russia against ukraine
even in todays open society russian's deny or disbelieve the 1930's famine in ukraine. when leaders control what is taught in history lies become facts and the truth is always sacrificed. there is to be no easy nor peaceful solution to this crisis. only the repopulating of crimea with tatars has held the russian's in check.
Crimea – the second Ossetia?
Crimea – the second Ossetia?
Correctly or not the Russian management has decided, having “force Georgia to the world”, any more has no value. Whether there is South Ossetia and Abkhazia the separate states, whether will enter into structure of the Russian Federation, or remain with the uncertain status, also it is unimportant. The fact is the fact – the military conflict has led to loss of a part of the territory by Georgia. Also it is necessary to reflect, who can become the following victim of the similar scenario. Unlike a number of the European countries which won territories behind the seas (that has led to their further loss), Russia extended at the expense of absorption of the next territories. Such “internal colonization” not only has allowed mother country to supervise them, but also subsequently has provided preservation of considerable Russian influence after a parade of sovereignties – both in 1917-1918, and in 1990-1991. And claims on this influence only amplify recently. Including Ukraine.
Some of the Russian politicians repeatedly declared necessity of revision of the status of the Crimean peninsula. Considering, that in the Kremlin similar demarches are invariably perceived with favourable silence, it is necessary to expect, that on this line pressure upon Kiev will amplify only. It is not necessary to forget, that Crimea till 1954 was in structure of RSFSR, and for today remains for Russia the important strategic base. It concerns as military sphere – the base in Sevastopol provides the control of Black sea, and political – thanks to a manipulation with moods of the population of Crimea.
Russia renders essential moral and material support of activity of the Prorussian public and semimilitary organisations (for example, cossacks). Ostensibly at the initiative of the specified public organisations in Crimea the question of carrying out of a referendum on revision of the status of Crimea as making Ukraine is regularly brought up.
Throughout last two years reception process by the Ukrainian citizens of the Russian passports considerably became more active. It is necessary to remind, that the pretext of protection of own citizens living in Ossetia (they received the Russian citizenship in the same way, as well as inhabitants of Crimea) became the justification for war against Georgia.
Until recently hardly probable not a unique part of the population of Crimea, not captured by the Russian attention, were Crimean Tatars. However and this omission of the Kremlin is gradually corrected. And the rate becomes first of all on youth. Russia under own initiative has started to hold annual forums of the Tatar youth in Kazan which pass under the aegis of formation of national consciousness and preservation of cultural traditions of the people.

Massacre of South Ossetians by NATO backed army
The author(s) of this article needs a little history lesson on how North and South Ossetias were formed and what happened recently. Russia did NOT invade Georgia, Russia saved helpless South Ossetians from Saakashvili's massacres. Without Russia's help, South Ossetians could have been wiped out by stalinist Saakashvili with his new NATO sponsored army. What part of Georgia attacked first don't you understand? Double standards like this make me somewhat believe when Putin said:
"...somebody in the United States has intentionally created this conflict with the aim of making the situation more tense and creating a competitive advantage for one of the candidates fighting for the post of U.S. president."
A Solution to the Upcoming Crisis
All of the world's problems are not the fault of the USA nor are its solutions the responsibility of the USA.
All that is needed to head off this upcoming crisis is for the Ukraine to get back some of the 5000 nuclear weapons that they foolishly gave up in 1996.
Al-Qu'aeda Conspiracy Theory
You have no proof Michale, TX that America was attacked by Al-Qu'aeda acting on behalf of the Afghani Government on September 11th, 2001. That is a conspiracy theory promulgated by the US Government and major media but which has never been independently verified. Indeed it is a theory which has a huge number of holes in it, not least the US Government flying alleged Al-Qu'aeda members out of the country immediately after 9/11.
George Bush: "We should have no time for those spreading frivolous conspiracy theories".
Indeed we should not.
Rebuttals to Comments above
Yes of course, we Eastern Slavs are just uncivilized barbarian “untermenschen”.
As to other claims, there is a perfect Western saying - People in glass houses should not throw stones.
Mr. Conlon
I must inform you that contrary to the official Yuschenko propaganda the “Famine” of the 1930’s was neither intentional nor was it contained to Ukraine. Most of the victims were not even Ukrainians. It affected almost all corners of USSR. Especially the Arctic north of Russia where locals were dependent on food from the south. If you actually knew anyone who lived in that time period they would open your eyes.
The Soviet Government’s policy was no different at the time than that of the Tsarist Government. Grains were used as a major export to gain funds to modernize the Economy. As a result in Tsarist Russia Famines were a common occurrence, especially in large grain growing regions of the south. In order to maximize output it was decided by the Soviet Government to centralize all farms under one hierarchy in the late 1920’s. “Peasants” were not the main opponents, it was the Land Owning families who had ruled for centuries, those who controlled the agriculture. The conflict here and poor weather were the major contributors to what happened in the 1930’s.
Anyway this issue is a Yuschenko Government diversion from Ukraine's current real problems. Double digit inflation, increased joblessness, and a population decline unseen since WW2.
