I know first hand what happens in mopc. It is nice that people want to help the children. For example Ms Beetty from CA. You said you have seen the good work done by Jean. No one denies her contribution she has made, but she must not be corrupt- period.

Why are peolpe not complaining about Stella or Alice's conducts at Mop and Jean only.You were in MOP FOR MAYBE 3DAYS OR 2 WEEKS OR 1 MONTH.Is that enough time to prove what really happens there? Of course you will see the overall work done and not the real thing behind the scenes and how some of the money or goods are spent there.

To be just, why not wedge a full investigation in MOP OPERATIONS- FULL UNBIASED AUDIT AND ASK THE WORKERS AND CHILDREN WHAT REALLY HAPPENS THERE.And not forget ask how many times Lydia has been caught in possession of children's things and almost fired but then Jean intervenes and says I gave her.On what grounds/ Why not treat all the staff the same.That is why there is continuous theft -because the staff is disgruntled.They all work hard not Lydia alone.Incentives are good but not to one person.

It's sad how all this propaganda can discourage a giving person from wanting to donate. What's more sad is that it's the children who will suffer from it...

Mother of Peace Community

I have visited the Mother of Peace Orphanage with Dr. Robert Scott and the medical team and have seen the wonderful work that is done by Jean and Stella Corneck and the MOP staff. Jean and Stella definitely do not live in great comfort or eat food that is served as a five star buffet, and I did not see the children in tattered clothing. I saw children who were cared for with loving kindness. Lydia, Jean's assistant, assist Mama Jean with her care, but she also helps with the operations of the orphanage. She is a dedicated hard working lady, and I have personally given and sent Lydia items for her and her family's personal use. All of this propoganda seems to have been written by a disgruntled employee who was fired for lack of proper work ethics. This is evil propaganda that should be stopped.

The shame at Mother of Peace

There are services and programs for the children of Zimbabwe which are in far greater need and truly legitimate and accountable. The lack of transparency and close family held governance at Mother of Peace is sad. What is more sad is the continued showering of disproportionate and enormous amounts of foreign currency by well-meaning (but naive) donors who think that the handful of children (some of whom are not even orphans or placements) are (or must be) somehow benefiting from enormous amounts of donations. In the end, we cannot lay fault on the unscrupulous management at Mother of Peace because the monster was created (and continues to be nourished) by the foreign donors who continue to hide behind denial and permit the deception to continue. Flooding Mother of Peace with great sums of donations makes donors feel good inside....a sign that in too many cases it is about them and not the children. The "need" which did exist in the beginning at Mother of Peace has long sense turned to "greed". Donors should not be surprised to see children at Mother of Peace wearing tattered clothing (eventhough quality clothes from donors are given often) because the tattered clothing evokes more sympathy and that translates into more foreign currency from donors. Mother of Peace is on 255 hectares with a dam and irrigation and livestock and fields of vegetables and a dairy....the children there should be eating very well high quality meals. The quality and lack of nutrition in the food given to the children is also a great concern when you consider the amount of donations flooding Mother of Peace. It is a pity that there is no credible oversight to protect the truly needy from the truly greedy. It is the children who are the ones who suffer at Mother of Peace and the donor world seems to be fine with that by showering the place with foreign currency to show its approval. The problems and leaders at Mother of Peace are not unlike those found in the circles of power so if there is a political connection with Mother of Peace we should not be surprised. If the foreign donors included Zimbabweans more in what they do to support organizations, Zimbabweans would be able to see clear through the deception at Mother of Peace in a matter of a few minutes and spare the waste of precious resources for those organizations that are truly needy and accountable.

If you take a look at the information about mother of peace by searching through google you find something interesting- the number of the children differs from site to site. Is mother of peace deliberately saying the number of orphans ever going above 140 or even 140 or is the administration doing this so that they get more than the actual number so that they personally gain.

This orphanage should be investigated.By the way a lot of genuine volunteers and workers have left because of the corrupt nature of the self proclaimed founder Jean Rally Cornneck!

Orphans should not be used so that greedy individuals can become rich and live like queens.

It would not surprise me that mother of peace is willingly helping zanu pf. The self proclaimed founder Jean Cornneck purpots that she was in the zanu pf women's league before she came to the orphanage. She is not even the founder, she was called by the four founders to help since she spoke the native language.

It is very commentable that everyone is concerned about the situation in Zimbabwe right now. I would like to air my views on the ills i feel should be addressed at an orphanage in mutoko , Mother of Peace Orphanage. I believe that the four white people who started the community meant well, however they have left. They were later joined by a woman called Jean Rally Cornneck who I am also sure that she meant well when she started helping the founders of this orphanage. Unfortunately Jean has become old and her health does not allow her to be as active as she was in the beginning. It also seems she has lost focus of why the place was started. Now she lives like a god at the orphanage and eats food that is buffet-like from a 5 star hotel, yet the children there only get the basics. I beleive the orphans can get better food and clothind if there is no indirect corruption. Jean takes donated stuff from locals into her own bedroom, yes her bedroom for the reason that she willl need to help destitutes who come at odd hours. However these goods are then distributed to her friends and relatives. I say this because if you are just an ordinary destitute in need of help she tells you that the place is an orphanage not an organisation which help outsiders. Her sister from Bulawayo gets donated stuff almost everytime containers come from America, Austria or United Kingdom. Sometimes she gets peanut butter in a 20 litre yet the orphans eat porridge with just enough peanut butter to smell it. Now she has become a community member of the orphanage yet she had vowed never to part of it. Is it out of good will or the situation in Zimbabwe now is worse for anyone to survive without help.The organisation has become a family affair. Jean is said to be the founder which is not true and her other younger sister is the community leader. The other has recently joined.If you get there the orphans do not appear to be getting the quality clothes that these international donors send. Huge amounts of foreign currecny are also donated but the orphans's meals are nothing to show such.After coming from America where she (Jean) funds raises for the orphanage she purpotes to have been given money for self use-really? She claims to be a volunteer but is this how volunteers work.If you go to her housemaid's place Lydia and former housemaid, Joice you will see what i mean by how she distributes property and food from the orphanage. In their financial books she gave her brother 600rands for medication which he did not return but was supposed to pay back as it was Mother of Peace fund.Her sick relatives come to stay and get best care at the expense of the children.

The director of the place from South Africa, Beverly Olbers has been hinted by other community members and workers but she has turned a blind eye to it.

Maybe Iam being over-reacting but will someone look into how this orphanage operates! Are volunteers allowed to take organisation property for their relatives' benefit. Orphans are being put on the fore front for a family to live like they are in a palace!

Mugabe

Articles like "How to Kill a Country" by Samantha Power, reveal the truth about Mugabe. His paranoia and desperate attempts to remain in power through intimidation and murder are reminiscent of Castro, Stalin and Hitler.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Like Cuba, Zimbabwe's major export is educated professionals.

Mugabe has done the very thing he abhored. He once said, "An evil remains an evil whether practices by white against black or black against white." How quickly he forgot his own words! Furthermore, his evil actions have ramifications for EVERYONE in the country! He has ruined it! He has become what he hated. And now, he is hated.

I am very concerned. We sponsor a child in Zimbabwe. Now we have no way of knowing if he and his family are being fed. I am heart-sick for ALL Zimbabweans. The government has stopped all aid from this agency and many others.

There must be an end to this "reign" of this mad man, Mugabe. Like Hitler, his hatred has poisoned him. The poison is killing many.

My heart is with the people of Zimbabwe. There has been abductions, beatings, torture, killings. How can he say he loves Africa, and send his men out to kill Zimbabweans, take once viable farm land and totally ruin it, which is impoverishing the entire country??? Enough!
