More Nukes
Iran is going to have nuclear weapons.
Sanctions will not prevent Iran from building the weapons. Iran wants to have these because it is a matter of national pride, like going to the moon was for the USA in the 60's; or, you can believe President Ahmadinejad is an honorable politician and Iran is merely working on enrichment.
At present Iran is not a threat to anybody, nor is Iran threatened by anybody, Iran is a safe country. However once Iran has nuclear weapons it will be a threat to a lot of countries, Iran will then become threatened by a lot of countries, and it will be a dangerous and unsafe country.
Iran values pride, prestige, and respect over safety.
The problem for Iran is not the sanctions, nor the scientific and engineering effort; the problem for Iran is what to do after it has nuclear weapons.
The problems for Iran's neighbors are what to do before Iran has nuclear weapons
and what to do after Iran has nuclear weapons.
Iran is going to have nuclear weapons, get use to it.
Iran's nuclear rights
You say - The Iranian government is showing no signs of suspending its nuclear programs. That's right and why should Iran do that? It has all the right in the world to conduct nuclear enrichment under the NPT and the UNSC has no business trying to stop Iran from conducting legal activity.
George Bush said - "We're going to continue to isolate you, we'll continue to work on sanctions, we'll find new sanctions if need be—if you continue to deny the just demands of a free world, which is to give up your enrichment program." Again, why should Iran give up something it is legally entitled to do, expecially when Bush and his cronies have not produced any hard evidence to show that Iran is actually trying to make nuclear weapons? It's nonsense and bullying and good on Iran for not succumbing to this illegal intimidation.
If there is a supreme terrorist nation, it is the USA. I haven't got enough space in this commentary to list all the transgressions, deposing of legitimate governments, assassinations and other illegal acts that the USA has perpetrated over the decades. On top of that, the USA itself has not complied with the NPT by not eradicating its own nuclear arsenal and is actually flouting the NPT with its illegal nuclear deal with India. What utter hypocrisy.
I am no lover of the Iranian regime, but if it is legal for Iran to conduct nuclear enrichment, then that's the end of it. The only way to change this is to abolish the NPT and get all nations to subscribe to its requirements, including the USA.
