Democrats Poke Fun at GOP After Specter Leaves Party
The Democrats seems to be really enjoying the post-Arlen Specter mess the Republican Party is in. Case in point: their new Web ad. The ad is a creative take on the opening credits of the TV show Survivor and "highlights the continued disunity" within the GOP. It doesn't have a strong political message, just points out that the Republicans currently don't have a strong leader.
Here are the release and video:
The Democratic National Committee today released a new web ad "Survivor: GOP" highlighting the continued disunity and infighting among Republican leaders over control of the party. Even as the GOP attempts to rebuild, they continue to be stymied by internal squabbles over who should lead the party and in what direction. While the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin face-off against Eric Cantor, Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush, Michael Steele continues to face off against, well, everyone. Meanwhile, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich continue to pine for the good old days - defending a string of failed economic and foreign policies that they advocated for over the past two decades. All the while, GOP moderates, what's left of them, are treated like the skunk at the garden party.
Last week, Republican Senator Olympia Snowe pointed out in the New York Times after Arlen Specter switched parties that "It is true that being a Republican moderate sometimes feels like being a cast member of 'Survivor' — you are presented with multiple challenges, and you often get the distinct feeling that you're no longer welcome in the tribe."
As leading Republicans including Eric Cantor, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh continue to wage self-interested battles to shape the future of the Republican Party in the way that best serves their own political aspirations, Americans are voting themselves off the island, and out of the Republican party.

They're both Greedy Idiots!
I am neither a republican nor a democrat. But this 'Survivor commercial" kind of upsets me. How can the Democratic party sit there and say over and over again that the Republican party has no ideas (they don't by the way, but that’s not the point I am making) it seems that the Democrats are content with making that their campaign slogan, This is the height of Hypocrisy, when A democratic bill was rejected (Gitmo) because they had no ... (wait for it)... IDEAS on what to do with the detainees. How can you run a campaign stating that they have no ideas when in reality you (as a party) have not come with any ideas other than pipe dreams? (The democrats have all these wonderful ideas but have no concept or clue really how to achieve these ideas). Democrats want to provide all these entitlements (I.E. Amnesty, abortions in foreign countries etc.) to everyone, but where is the money going to come from? How can you tax Americans more than you already have? We cannot write any more bad checks to China. Right now I am more displeased with the Democrats in Power than anything else. Bush didn't do the greatest job as President, but I will give him credit for this. He did what he believed was best for America. A president should never do what the American people WANT, (Parents will understand this) A president should do what the American people NEED. And sometimes even in large masses American people want one thing but a good leader will do what he thinks is right despite popular opinion. (By the way, popular opinion in general whether it be politics, sports, or anything else for that matter, is an uninformed, uneducated opinion). Another thing this Commercial does for me is prove what children we have running our country. I haven’t seen someone win this disgracefully since I was in Kindergarten. This ‘you had your chance for 8 years now shut-up and watch us screw-up things more’ (and the democratic party is right now doing that) attitude is simply just childish. What we need is to weed them all out from every level, the next elections held in this country. We need to start voting in fresh new people (Neither Democrat or Republican) in offices now. Where the only thing a party stands for are the American people, and the American way of life (the Constitution).
For the people by the people!!!
Democrats stay humble
The Dems have control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, but I think they should remain humble and simply work for the good of their constituents in their respective states.
I know the temptation of "to the victor goes the spoils," but I would say that the Democrats should enjoy their power, but use it ever so wisely.
President Obama is doing the right thing in trying to reach out to the Republicans, even though he doesn't have to. That's what a GOOD leader does. Obama is showing himself to be a good leader.
Republicans a party of No?
"Republicans a party of no"? Seems more like "Republicans a party No Mo"!
