Some Democrats and the NRA Agree on Assault Weapons Ban

assault weapons ban
The title of your article is very misleadind-intentionally I presume! They agree on NOT having or re-newing the ban.Anti gunners are all the same. You are all liars
Armed Americans
I read that since his (Obama's) election in November there have been over 100 million weapons sold in America. Now thinking that there were already at least that many armed Americans before add the new 100 million to them and that's a lot of weapons to take from the American people. Why are they arming themselves, for protection, not for raping robbing or killing innocent people. The weapons the Drug dealers are using are automatic weapons, not semi auto. The only way to get them is from our govt, police or our soldiers. Which is the criminal?
Ridiculous
Banning guns won't change anything. The vast majority of murder cases are committed without guns, but rather with "tools" I can get easily: knives, axes, random blunt objects.
BTW, what's an "assault weapon"? An assault rifle? Good luck getting one of those legally in the US right now. Assault rifles are automatic rifles. Just because a gun looks like an AK47 doesn't make it an AK47. All those AK47 clones (and clones of other ARs) are semi-automatic. Big difference. Massive difference.
Say good bye to your liberty Americans. You are now officially turning into Europe. And no, that's NOT a good thing.
guns
let the civil war begin I will never give up my wepons,Seems to me if it was'nt for the farmers, mountain men and plain old citizen in the revolution there would not be a USA.What would General Wsahington think if the citizens magically charged the Brits with assultweapons,no dought what he and the founders would think. If they new these weapons could one day be real no dought they would be legal
Whooda thunk?
It's good to see that a few good ol' common sense dems still exist! They still have an uphill battle if they are to take the party back from the socialist elitists that took over the party in the 70's, but these days I'll take any good news I can get!!
What is it with Democrats and empty symbolism???
I can't believe that the Obama Administration would waste
its precious political capital on bringing back this
useless, tokenistic law. All it serves to do is cramp the style
of law-abiding Americans, stepping on voter's toes while having
an absolutely nil effect on crime rates.
Something to consider:
The PASSION on this issue, is all on the pro-gun side.
Many pro-gun voters have gun rights as their #1 issue.
Your average anti-gun voter has this issue as maybe #5 or #6
on their priority list; not to mention the fact that gunnies
tend to vote, vote often, and tend to be very unforgiving of
political assaults on their rights. If Obama wants to lose his
congressional majority (and his mandate), I can't
think of a faster or better way to do it than to pick a
fight (a'la Bill Clinton) with America's gun owners. As
if he didn't have more pressing issues to attend to!
Could it be, that Obama/Holder want the gun issue to
define their time in office, as it literally did Bill
Clinton's? The very same issue that cost Gore the presidency in 2000,
and Kerry in 2004??? Is the Democratic leadership really that dense?
(If so, my respect for human wisdom has
just dropped another notch.)
finally the dems get it right!!!
as an old blueblood democrat ive been disguted by the parties direction adopting social enginering rather than common sense its about time the dems reconize that a large portion of there voteing base are working class americans that love there guns.letting a bunch of latte liberals run there party has ruined them so to all the bleeding heart nut jobs in the democratic party i have this to say "pepole who echange there liberties for security deserve neither" so go home and shut up youre not wanted
The times, they are a-changin'
The 65 House Democrats who signed that letter join no less than nine Democratic Senators (including Majority Leader Harry Reid) who will oppose any new ban on semi-automatics. In addition, there are pro-Second Amendment caucuses within at least three state Democratic organizations (Nevada, Oregon, and Texas). Within the party itself, the renewed debate over gun control among Democrats is hard to miss, especially in light of last year's DC V. HELLER ruling by the Supreme Court.
