Tax Cuts Receive New Emphasis—and Some Criticism—in Stimulus Debate
Minority Leader Boehner doesn't have enough GOP members in the House to stall the stimulus. But a logjam could occur in the Senate, where skeptical voices are rising over the tax-relief measures.
Meantime, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced her own plan to "incentivize" lawmakers to roll up their sleeves. If there's not a bill when it comes time for the President's Day recess in mid-February, there will be no House recess, she warned. "We are not going home," she said, "without an economic recovery package."

middle class cuts
Those of us that are gaining the least are those of us making good economic decisions to start with. Those with bills paid and houses that we can afford to pay for. We didn't overspend to start with...shouldn't we get a bonus in this whole schema?? I mean doing the right thing is getting you nothing so maybe I should go out and waste my mortgage money so that I can get bailed back out laster.
Where do I fit in?
I want to know where the average person fits in at. I want a total break down of where the money going and how it's being spent and how does it effect the less than average person?
Obama Tax cuts are an insult to our intelligence
$500 tax cut per person and $1000 per couple is an insult to our intelligence as americans if he actually thinks that will make any kind of difference to us. $20 per paycheck is nothing in today's economy. The only thing that is going to make a significant difference to the average middle class family is a major change in the income brakets and/or eliminating the marrage penalty.
