10 Things You Didn't Know About Chris Christie

1. Christopher J. Christie was born in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 6, 1962. He was raised in Livingston, N.J.

2. He played catcher for Livingston High School's baseball team. It won the state championship his senior year.

3. After serving as class president all four years of high school, Christie was elected student body president at the University of Delaware during his junior year. His future wife, Mary Pat Foster, ran on his ticket as secretary.

4. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1984 and graduated with a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987.

5. After a law partner introduced Christie to George W. Bush in 1999 in Austin, the presidential candidate hired him as his New Jersey campaign counsel.

6. He served as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey from 2002 through 2008. He prosecuted more than 130 public officials and never lost a corruption case during his tenure.

7. The brother of his aunt's husband is Tino Fiumara, who was a ranking member of the Genovese crime family. Christie's office indicted Fiumara in 2002 for aiding a fugitive. Christie recused himself from the proceedings.

8. The Monty Python comedy troupe threatened to sue Christie after his gubernatorial campaign, without permission or credit, featured an ad that included copyrighted material on its website. The campaign quickly removed the ad.

9. Christie and his wife have been married for 23 years. They have four children (two boys and two girls) ages 6 through 16.

10. Last spring, he coached his youngest son's Little League baseball team.
