Democrats: Gubernatorial Races Not a Reflection on Obama

This could be a sign that insiders expect Republicans to win in New Jersey and Virginia

Posted October 14, 2009

Democratic strategists are already downplaying the idea that the two big gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia next month will be a referendum on President Obama's job performance or the direction taken by Democrats in Congress.

This could be a sign that party insiders expect the Republican candidates to win both high-visibility races.

"Those campaigns don't have much to do with Obama or Congress," says a prominent Democratic organizer with close ties to the party organization in Washington. He argues that local and state issues and the personalities and characters of the gubernatorial candidates have much more impact on those campaigns than the goings-on in Washington.

And, with the economy in trouble and deep voter anxiety about the status quo, being an incumbent is a big liability, Democratic strategists say. If that analysis holds true, it would be bad news for incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine in New Jersey and Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds, who is attempting to continue Democratic rule in Virginia.

Quackademics

As is typical when quackademics are caught red-handed in outright and grotesque error- and there will be no grader, more spectacular instance of scientific book-cooking in all of history than the "global warming" scam for money- the first response is to circle the wagons, claiming "only non-scientists oppose us". The second is to denigrate the scientists who do oppose them. The third- and we are seeing it now- is to quibble over whether such and so a political petition is sufficiently lily white.

Global warming was a gigantic scam for money. Big Science will never recover from thisone. They bought it hook, line and sinker for the money and the prestige.

Good bye, scientific priesthood. You have been wearing the Emperor's Clothes. Better get into the dressing room quickly.

The planet keeps cooling, you dolts.
