Democrats Mock Republicans for Old-Timers on TV Shows

Don't read too deeply into this

The Democrats are pressing their advantage, just as the Republicans did during George W. Bush's administration.

During that period, the Republicans labeled the Democrats weak on national defense. Given the Bush administration's unusually aggressive stance on foreign policy, this was not a difficult argument to make in relative terms. And, given the events that were unfolding, many found these stances hard to oppose, even when opposition was supported by fact.

During this period, the Republican party's socially conservative wing was also ascendant. The policies they espouse tend to be those of older, whiter, rural Americans--in short, those that used to comprise a larger majority of our population than they now do. They are, literally, a vision of the past. Whether they (we, really--I'm an older, white, suburban/rural conservative American) will again begin grow as a percentage of the US population, I don't know, but right now it doesn't appear likely. The "sleeping giant" is shrinking.

Bottom line, it's just politics. The Democrats are playing the numbers, appealing to our country's growing socially liberal (or maybe indifferent) majority, and tying the Republican platform of social conservatism to the Bush administration's shaky managerial record. They are aided by more traditional Republicans, many of whom live by a socially conservative code but doubt the government's authority to enshrine that code in law. Again, it's a simple question of numbers.

Gotta Wonder.

I have to wonder how much money is being spent to air these smear campaign ads the democrats keep running. If the republicans are so out of touch and almost non-exixtant. Why are the democrats so worried? If conservatives are a dying breed whats the point of spending this money on these ads? I'll tell you why every politician is a lying to us. on every issue. Democrats call the republicans the party of the 'rich' well I don't see too many democrats in office driving a used Honda Accord, in fact Al Gore has gotten filthy rich off of Glbal Warming/Climate Crisis. I gotta wonder if we wouldn't be better off next election to make it a point to start voting people in outside of the 2 party system. I don't think anyone is entitled to anything more than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We need to Unite under one common cause, America, and not political views, or rage, or gender we are Americans and nothing else. So if you want to come to our country i welcome you with open arms, but I'll be damned if I let you come in just to our flag upside down and consistantly trash this great country if you don't like it LEAVE!

Jumping on the Theme? Republicans Keep Playing That Song.

Democrats, or anyone else for that matter, would be hard pressed not to notice the far right trajectory of the Republican Party. When they start bashing General Colin Powell as being too far to the left, you have to wonder just where they would take this country if they got the chance.

As for me, I don't want or need a handout; but I also have no desire to be part of a strident, selfish and angry mob, looking to launch a Holy War against anybody they deem less Free Market Capitalist American than they. I know what true socialism is, and I know what tyranny is. Republicans use the latter to create scare tactics about the former.

Just shows they're getting nervous

I only agree with about 50-60% of the current brand of "Powell/McCain" Republicans. I think McCain's "centralist" positions lost him the election. As the TParties have shown, we're sick of BOTH parties spending OUR money to insure their re-election. We need REAL change next time, not ole school Democratic Religion (I'll spend money now and bill you later).

Based on the last election there's 53% of the voters who want/expect a handout. That's a scant 6% lead. The more voters research and educate themselves on what's REALLY happening, the lead has already shifted despite what CNN and MSNBC keep spewing. WE cannot afford Obama/Pelosi/Reid and even the Democrats are starting to notice.

They're starting to get nervous and after the demonstrations planned all over the nation on July 4th and in Washington on Sept 12th, they might be down right jittery.

Hey Paltel.....

The sleeping giant did roar - in November. Your sqeauling midget party is just that. Less than 20% will even admit to being Republican. Pity they gave a good party over to the American taliban... oops - I meant to say religious right. You see, good, moral people are not all Republican - or zealots. Funny thing.

Proud citizens of the this country, the beacon of freedom, individualism, creativity and risk/reward!
