I believe that your comment is lacking a citation of some sort. When you say "It's an image WE don't want associated with America." who are you speaking of? Who is this "we"? I want the image of freedom to be associated with America. I want the image of equality to be associated with America. Having said this, please speak for yourself. "We" is a very strong word to use with such a weak statement.

These are our brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, parents, grandparents and children. These are Americans you are slandering. Who cares what the majority of American's think? This isn't a majority issue. This is an issue of reality. People are programmed differently for reasons we do not and cannot understand. The ideal you have in your mind is only that, and has no room for accommodation of a difference of perspective, a perspective that if you were secure in your own life and identity, wouldn't threaten you in the least. It's not an embarrassment to the nation, it's a reality of the diversity of human beings. Just because you don't understand it or agree with it doesn't makej wrong and certainly doesn't make it go away. Gay people are PEOPLE. They are humans deserving of the same love and understanding you would give a member of your own family. Shame on you for posting such a hateful and divisive comment.

First off...based on your comments I am pretty sure that you have never actually faced same-gender attraction because otherwise you wouldn't say being gay is a choice. Homosexuality is not exactly the first choice I would make for myself in a society so intensely homophobic as ours---just a crazy thought.

Second---Productivity of a marriage cannot be solely measured by procreation if that were the case then infertile heterosexuals should also be barred from the blessing of matrimony.

And lastly--As for being an undersirable association with America???? I personally would prefer to not be viewed as a nation of narrow-minded, self-indulgent, self-righteous bigots, but I guess if we uphold prop 8 and other similar initiatives, amendments, and legislation the world will inevitably draw its own conclusions on the matter.

I have been brought up in church and always told that "Being gay is a sin and gay people go to hell" and so forth as most people always have. As an adult now, how can I say that another is a sinner, when I am myself; "He who has no sin, cast the first stone"....

Not that I particularly 'agree' with gay marriage, but who am I to deny the right of these people? Here in America, we give so much more freedoms to illegal aliens than we do to our own tax-paying citizens; isn't there something wrong with this picture?

Why are we as a society so judgemental of other people, that we have the power to regulate and control who people love? It saddens me that my gay friends cannot enjoy the love, freedoms and rights that I can with my husband, just because they are 'different'.

Religion is a choice just like hate, bigotry, descrimination and intolorance is a choice.

Being gay is not a choice, it is not wrong to be gay and it requires the love of someone from the same sex to be gay. Our identity as Gay people are based in the truth that our love is for someone of the same sex and for gay people, that would constitute their family unit.

It is a basic human right to exist, but in our natural state of being. Thus we must seek out and pursue the person whom our heart desires and who desires us back.

Now, it is unhuman to deny someone a liberty you take for granted yourself. You are not greater or less than I under the law. The law is the focus of this battle and this means your religious views do not matter. It is about equal treatment of all Californian citizens to enjoy the same freedoms equally.

That is why proposition 8 must be removed. You can keep your hate, but the law must be equal.

Overturn Proposition 8. It will happen soon! More people understand that hate is wrong everyday. And we will "NEVER" give up that right to be free under the same sky! Let god judge you for your hate.

Gay Marriage

If gays aren't happy with the way they are treated in this country, maybe they should move to muslim countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia to find out how difficult their lives can be.

If they legalize gay marriage then nothing should stop someone from marrying multiple wives, or their brother or sister. Be happy with a civil union or shut up and sit down!

First, it does not have to be marriege. That can stay between a man and a woman,so give them civil unions with the same respects as marriage after all they should be able to lose there sh#t in divorce, get stuck with alimony and child support like the rest of us!

At one point dating outside ones race was wrong, then you couldn't marry outside your race...but we can now and this is no different. I would rather a child have two parents in the home regardless of the sex than a child without any parents. What happened to the pursuit of happiness? who are we to tell someone that they can not be happy? Just because it is not something we are comfortable with does not make it wrong. Gays and lesibians are is a title, it does not say anything about the person. Honestly, why does it matter?

If your religion does not approve of same-sex marriage, you are within your rights to turn down marriage proposals from people of the same gender. Stop trying to tell other people they can't do what *your* religion forbids.
