CIA
Look this Democratic is good at least he paid his taxes as far as we know. We won't totally know until they do the background check and even if he didn't the White House has the Wavier program. So far I think they have only used two waviers so they have plenty left. One for the Treasury Secretary and the other one for Tom Dashil. And even if he doens't work out what's the worst the terrorist could blow up a Nuker Plant? His resume says he has great organizational skills and that should impress any terrorist! The underlining point here is we don't want a good CIA that could pervent attacks. We might offend the the terrorist, the Europeans (God Forbid)and any other left wing organization of America haters. All we have to fear is fear itself! So let's give this guy some on the job training and he'll do just fine.
Panetta
Carter appointed Stansfield Turner who was a disaster and gutted the Agency's Humint collection capability. Clinton appointed Tenet and we saw how that worked out. Hayden is an intelligence professional who has re-established structure and given the organization a vision for the future. Panetta is a another politician and will be less likely to offer an independent, unbiased evaluation of all the collection efforts. The organization needs leadership in critical times - not "management" nor a political yes-man. It will be interesting to see how Panetta adapts.
Are U Crazy
Israelie Intel.is decades ahead of us on mid east issues. We need them more than we can imagine.
A politician over the CIA. I feel real secure now. Back to fighting terrorism with our hands tied!
cia choice
Anyone Obama would pick for any cabinet post would be a vast
improvement to the morons Bush had working for him. The only concern of that entire group was self promotion and greed.
We finally are getting bright people with a sense of purpose
in the executive branch. Any decesion dramatically different
than what that idiot Bush did has to be right!
Panetta = Irrera
Anyone who looks like comedy great Dom Irrera can't possibly be a bad choice for CIA Director.
Panetta's Expertise: Transparency & Independence
Recall that while at OMB Panetta's primary achievements were to increase transparency (significantly expanding public access to reports and data) and to reduce political influence (insulating staff from political pressure). If all that Panetta accomplishes while head of CIA is that, our nation will be a better place for generations to come.
Right Guy
Ever time I hear a news pundit talk about someone having the right experience I think of G.W. Bush, and him failing at everything he has done in his life before he became president. I hope Panetta brings back integrity back to the CIA. I hope he also loosens Israels grip on US intelligence. We do not need them. They need us, however Whites Houses down through the years forgot this. We should be calling the shots, and setting boundaries.
EXPERIENCE?????
Why would anyone care about experience. He looks good, he talks good, he's been on TV a lot. . . enough to be a celebrity. What else would matter?
Panetta is the right guy
Panetta was picked for character - pure and simple. He has a lifetime of personal achievement and public service with no real black marks on his record. Besides, look where so-called experience got us with the Bush administration - the biggest intelligence fiasco EVER - false (or fabricated) information that led to the costliest and most useless war in our history.
