Could Caroline Kennedy Be in Line for Hillary Clinton’s Senate Seat?

Caroline Bovier Kennedy Schlossberg

Skiba: Could your article be any more sickenly sweet? What you fail to openly state in your article is that you appear to mistakenly revere the Kennedy name; thus, because Kennedy is one of the four titles this individual carries, that she is entitled to be a Senator of the United States. Your type of misguided belief that USN&WP readers are interested in this type of journalism is the primary reason I'll not renew my subscription...in a word, get a life!

"I remember a kid who was form without substance and who took us into VietNam on the WRONG side, just to appease his own ego."

LBJ a kid interesting way of looking at history as LBJ was president when US combat units entered the vietnam war, 1965, although US military advisers started arriving in 1959. So its a bit hard to say JFK took the US into Vietnam as advisors were there before he entered office and troops entered after he was killed. As for the substance it was part of the policy of containment - not saying this was the best one to have in the case of vietnam but it was the way several admins went

As for Caroline don't see her as the best choice. if she wants this a run in 2010 would be a better Idea be that for the house or the senate. maybe House 2010 then Senate 2012 so she'll have a feel for DC politics or move to MA!

Oh, please, don't give us another Kennedy in the Senate. They are a jinx to the nation, and to the world.

Caroline Kennedy

Not another Kennedy in Congress -- God help us. They can afford to be ultra liberal because they have enough money to insulate themselves from reality. I wish they would take their do-gooder, glad-handing selves and just go away quietly.

Qualifications ? Huh...what's dat when you got juice with Uncle Teddy....

She's not qualified at all!

Apart from Uncle Ted, her only other political experience is her skirt-chasing father getting his head blasted open . . . .

Caroline Kennedy

The article continually refers to the 24K gold of the Kennedy name. You should realize that some of us do not have the awe for that name that you ivory tower pundits do. I remember a kid who was form without substance and who took us into VietNam on the WRONG side, just to appease his own ego. Magic for you, painful memories for the rest of us. And that card carrying liberal murderer from Massachusetts who has been buying his reelction at enormous costs is hardly anyone I consider an icon to be respected.

Charles

I know I hurt your feelings and I apologize and won't attack you in kind. But you said, and I quote, "PS that Caroline will get this on her own merits, Unlike the Bush's. "

What merits would those be Charles? Just curious.

An Insult to NYers

I've just about had it with the media's swooning over the "idea" of Caroline Kennedy taking over Hillary Clinton's seat. What about the people of NY?! Sorry that a qualified person would be less of a story and won't prop up our failing newspapers.

While a lovely woman I'm sure, Caroline Kennedy has a fraction of the qualifications that HRC did EIGHT YEARS AGO. We need someone who is an experienced and aggressive fighter for the state, not a recluse who suddenly decided that she might want to go into the family business. Not to mention that Caroline didn't even endorse Hillary! And yet she has the gall to suggest that she should be her replacement? I find it very disingenuous.

The stakes are too high to become pawns of a Kennedy family power play or a media obsession. If Caroline wants to go into politics, let her run in 2010 and convince the voters to take a risk on her. If Paterson appoints Kennedy it will be no different than Blago - giving the seat to the highest bidder and the voters of NY will remember that in 2010.

Senate Qualifications? Any? None.

So, apparently the only qualifications for the Senate are now name recognition. As a New York Congressman pointed out yesterday, J Lo has name recognition, why not let her have the Senate seat Hillary is vacating?

Name recognition and being an attorney does not qualify one for anything except getting arrested.

She needs to run for office. At least Hillary ran. She put herself out there and ran for office and possible rejection. Not likely, but she tried. This girl? Nothing. She needs to stick to what she knows. Being a mother.

Jeff of TX boy do you sound bitter.

I bet you would go for Hitler’s kids (if he had any).

Why do you not leave us alone and go to the old USSR, Cuba, or China.

PS that Caroline will get this on her own merits, Unlike the Bush's.
