Where do we as Republicans go to bring us back to the basics
For the RNC Chairman I like Michael Steele and Newt Gingerich, although I do not believe Newt is interested. We need to get back to our basics and stop trying to be Moderate or Liberal. We are a party of a free market economy, rule of law, small government and conservative morals. I recently read Michael Zak's book on Back to the Basics for the Republican Party (several times) and each time that I read it I could point to areas where we lost our focus. We need to get back to the basics, form grass root groups in communities and stop fighting ourselves to see who can be the most moderate. Sarah Palin was a breath of fresh air and gave the McCain ticket a real shot in the arm and I hope that she returns to the national scene. I suggest that those who are to be candidates for RNC Chairman stand a review and oral exam by a committee of seven selected people, including governors, senators and state GOP leaders and their recommendation brought forward to the party. Get out of the box and pick a leader with vision, talent and perspective who reflects the values goals we want to be our party.
One of the areas that we as Republicans really need to work on is that grass roots organization and functioning. We as Republicans need to do a better job of finding some new candidates (many who have never run for office) and helping them to be prepared for the position they seek. Most of us have never run for a political office and even though we are skilled and talented, the position of service require different skills and our local and state parties need to be involved in screening and educating new faces so that they can win the primary then the general election. It seems as though many times we expect a candidate to swim on their own in the primary and maybe get some help in the general election. We need to get off the idea that if you win the primary we might help you mode. I have offered to help screen candidates and then help them get ready for the primary and have been turned down more than one time. When I was attempting to prepare to run for Congress I was seeking information and help from political insiders and got very little help or assistance. Medical problems keep me from pursuing office again so I offer to help candidates running for various offices. I was told by several different organizations that if I won the primary they would consider helping me. Even when I told them that I would have no primary they still would not help me by supplying contacts and information for position papers. I found my GOP, both statewide and national to not be very helpful in my quest and to me this is a real negative. I was not known so was not considered a viable candidate, even though I have an earned Ph.D. and 25 years of experience in industry. If that is the way that new faces will be treated we will never get new and good candidates to run.
The Media gods:
For years we have been bombarded by the media propaganda, from a subtle approach to now as blatant vicious attack.
Mathematically they know they can get away with it because of
freedom of speech, and they mix truth with a dash of lies. They
also know that a big majority of voters are not intelligent
enough to know the difference. They also have been brainwashing
the educationl institutions from elem. to college students, no
thanks to the socially oriented NEA. This has been going on
for years. Rush, Hanity, Morris and others try to get to the
truth, but who listens to them, certainly not the big cities.
How can the conservative media be heard? To what extent does
freedom of speech border on treason toward our great nation? We
came to this country to escape tyranny. The voice of conservatism needs to be heard, and not by just a few talk
radio folks. It may be to late.
The Party's Future
Forget the"religious right".Catering to them has only cost us votes from the otherwise fiscally conservative population who are rightfully afraid of any group with a moral agenda.
What conservatives, including Republicans, Independents and moderate Democrats want most is government discipline, and the Republican party has shown absolutely non of this since the election of George W. Bush.
If we embrace the principles we always talk about, but have shown little of lately in terms of concrete action, our party can be brought back together again. We may lose a few people on the so called "Christian Right", but I believe most of those will still vote with us when the chips are down, and even if they stay home, we'll still be better off if we dump the moral agenda issues.
Also, what about starting a movement toward term limits? Stevens would have never been the embarrassment he is if we had term limits. Same goes for Murtha. I could fill the page with names !
It is imperative.....
I am not a republican. but I am a concerned american citizen who understands that our country works better when the power is balanced between dems and republicans.
For the sake of our country, I believe the republican party needs to take a hard look at where they are now, and consider a major overhaul in the leadership. I am afraid that the party has lost touch with the essential needs of the average american. the party is still controlled by people unwilling to adjust to our times, and fundamentally change from the way things used to be to the reality of our world today.-
I remain hopeful that there is enough good will among the people who really care about the state of party.-
the party needs a new platform, a new vision, a new message.-
the party needs to learn to relate ...to care sincerely...to get involved at the community level....to care for those in need....this is not to say tha they don't care about this issues, but I think more can be done, in fact more needs to be done.-
this is the perfect time to show their patriotism by working "mano a mano" with the new administration when installed in January.
having an open mind and showing willingness will help president elect Obama govern from the center, something he needs to do for he is the president of all americans.
it is imperative that, a new leadership is chosen.....mature people, seasoned in public service, people with no personal agendas, people who will put country first.-
Hint, take a look at the governor of Minnesota for I believe he enbodies the very same qualities that I mentioned before.-
For the sake of the party of Lincoln and Reagan, and for the sake of our beloved country.- A restored, and re-charged republican party is needed but one that has learned the lessons of recent. A party who relates and understands that we have a lot of hard work ahead and one that understands that the state of our economy,health care, education, national security (better said the security of our brave men and women in uniform),energy,and so many other issues are not only themes that are chosen during election times.-

unemployment and actual job growth, we need to get this out and show the actual facts. Once again that goes with creating our own media outlet. We also let slide one of the biggest issues,
by not demanding that Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and Rangel be removed from there posts. Dodd, Frank and Schmer are on tape
saying that Fannie and Freddie were fine, which was the biggest
cause of the economic slide and we did nothing, if they were republicans the media would have destroyed them. As far as Rangel goes it is the same situation, a total double standard
by the media, we needed to expose this standard everyday, we let it go. We have Frank and Dodd on banking committees, this is like the fox watching the hen house and we do nothing.

What are we Republicans doing wrong?
Why can't the Republicans put aside pettiness, self-centeredness and bickering for the good of this great Nation of ours? Why can't we obtain unity within the party at all levels? We, the people, the uninformed, the disinterested, the unpatriotic, the uncaring, the selfish, and the list goes on are resposible. How many hand-outs have the people from all states been in Washington begging for? If you want the pork cut, we all better start at home. The pork has got to go in order to bring this country back to productivity. Let's demand a line-item veto. Be bold enough to take drastic measures, that will hurt, but heal in the long run. The POWER is in the People of this coutry if they unite and demand not only sacrafice of all but of themselves. We are all in this together and it can be solve, but with unity.
Back to basic conservative values
Some Republicans in Congress forgot the principles that got them elected. Some of them are low taxes across the board. Some taxes should be eliminated. No more pork!!! No more compromising our core principles and values. Be as agressive or more agressive than the socialist democrats. During campaigns, republicans should not be worried about being accused of negative campaigning. No matter what we do, the socialists will say it's negative. Since when is the truth supposed to be negative. If the truth hurts the socialists' feelings, that's just too bad. From now on the democrats should be called socialists everytime a Republican is discussing them. We need to get a great grassroots organization on the move. I'm ready to help. Disorganized Republican Party
I believe the Repubs. need to get more excited at the grassroots level and get the message in as simple , yet strong format as it can possible get. People like Karl Rove, Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin and others excite and make me believe we can do something to get this atrocious Congress off the face of the planet. We need to respect those values that made us great. Less govt intrusion, better economic standards for loans, and a consistent message that can be articulated. There should be more support for all those who run and get rid of those who have dissed Sarah Palin from inside the campaign. That is disgraceful and send a horrible message, although she has handled it well. I do not believe abortion should have ever gotten into government's hands, but now that it is, we should limit it and certainly not do 3rd term abortions. Also, we MUST go after those who received the millions of dollars from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and all those corporate CEO's who made million of dollars. Had John McCain suspended his campaign and said "This bail-out is wrong and there are better ways to handle this and we will go after those who were on the dole, I think he might have generated more enthusiasm. Brilliant minds were saying this was the wrong thing to do and Henry Paulson should be severely reprimanded for his part in this disastrous economic downturn.
