Statue of Techumseh on top of Capitol

Why is the Indian Techumseh of top of the Capitol?

CVC

An awesome structure but the fact that any mention of faith or God was deleted from all aspects of this project proves that we have finally voted God out of America. The politicians we've placed in office don't hesitate to remove his name from new projects such as the CVC and will surely start removing it from everything else because they know there aren't enough Christians left in America to cause them any trouble. It's just a matter of time until we see God's name removed from all government buildings including the Supreme Court and there's no one to blame except the Christians. Most have lost sight of all that our forefathers fought so hard to establish and our schools have made sure our children never hear about it. America is no longer a Godly nation and God might just pull the plug anytime! Enjoy the tour.

Typical

And now Obama and Co want well over 1 trillion dollars for a "Stimulus"

It took them double the time and cost to put up a simply visitors center in their own backyard...How poorly are they going to allocate 1 trillion dollars!!!

Gov't is the problem, not the solution. We need to scrap the federal reserve, get rid of the teachers unions and invest in education.

That is CHANGE we need...Not this Change we can "believe in bs"

Our country is extremely uneducated and manipulated to care about things that are unimportant. This last election was the perfect example. Sarah Palin, like her or not, had way more relevant exprience then Barack Obama, but even if she didn't the media made her the target of the campaign...BUT SHE WAS THE VP candidate. What about Joe Biden, he said countless foolish things and it was overlooked. The gov't, media and financial institutions are in the bed together. Palin represented an outsider that threatened the cohesivness of their collusion so they attacked her.

Yet they in Washington waste 300million, on a meaningless visitor center to buff congresses saddles...AND not a damn person in this country is outraged...It truly is sad.

Please view the zeitgeist movies.

frescoes

does the visitor center display the sculptured pictures around the inside of the dome? if so, is there one called "the death of Tecumseh"? is it described? the engraving shows the indian chief being shot by a man named johnson. i hope to come see this overdue visitor center and visit the capitol. thank-you denise form missouri

Elimination by choice?

Who was responsible for leaving out the very basic concepts and beliefs that have brought our country into being. To leave out "In God We Trust", to not have those words engraved in stone is unforgiving. And then there is the Pledge Of Allegiance. It seems that was forgotten too. This center will certainly play host to millions of visitors in the coming years and we need to proudly display our beliefs for all to see and remember.

motto

Our countries official motto is "In God We Trust", not Epluribus Unim! You would think those involved in this mammoth project of time and expense would have checked this before chiseling the wrong thing into the marble. These people aren't stupid, just in denial!

HYPOCRITES?

Maybe this was needed and maybe it wasn't. But, while the lawmakers rake the auto companies and others over the coals for their bad business decisions, the same people spend taxpayer money like drunken sailors. Did they really need more and elaborate offices? How big are their staffs now? 3 times the original cost? Disgusting. If all companies ran their businesses like the government runs theirs then they would all be out of business. Maybe that's the goal. But, after all, this is not REAL money.....it's just taxpayer funds.

Let's be Real!

I'm sure the "spreading of the wealth' was a minute part of the cost.

We, (the American Taxpayers) were more then likely over-charged for every

piece of material used in this project. The economy is in the dumper,

stock markets a wreck, unemployment is at a all time high,

BUT we have 621 MILLION Taxpayer Dollars to waste on this??

Only in America my friends, Only in America !!

Educational and Well-Worth It

As an American, I'm very proud of that building. It's a wise upgrade of a place every American must see before they die. The grouchy, whiny comments on here justify the cost. Perhaps if you went there and saw for yourself instead of assuming, you would understand.

CVC

Having had the pleasure of a pre-opening tour- I can assure you that this facility will enhance every visitors trip to the Nations Capital. Americans and visitors alike will gain a new perspective on how the Congress has shaped our diverse country and how the role of lawmakers has changed overtime.
