3 Things You Didn't Know About the Colorado Senate Race

1. Over the past three decades, the candidate who has won the Denver suburbs has won the election.

2. Until this year's campaign, Colorado's 2004 Senate election campaign was the most expensive in Colorado history. In that contest, Democrat Ken Salazar became the first Hispanic senator in more than a quarter century when he defeated Republican beer baron Pete Coors.

3. The candidates are competing to replace Republican Sen. Wayne Allard, who was the first senator to announce his retirement for the 2008 elections, making his decision known in January 2007.
