stimulus

I agree with must of these comments and add some more. I really think the billionaires like president bush should come live in poor situations. heck no the rich dont care because they have money to burn and us poor people cant get no where. my husband isnt working either and has already went thru all the unemployment he can get. we only have 614 a month to live on and our rent is 500 so where do you think we are heading? probably will be out in the street with 3 kids before christmas so much fun. I hope these government people get off there butts pretty soon and start thinking about the people and be for the people not just the rich and famous and the people whom do not have to work for a living. I am for Obama and I sure hope he gets it cause I sure dont want to see another bush for the next 4 years.

another stimulus package??

I do not know where our leaders heads are (well, I do but can't say here). Just how much of a stimulus is $600? It would be nice to have with Christmas coming up, but it is not going to go far on the mortgage, car payment/s, college education or just food for most families.

These "leaders" are so out of touch with reality is stupid. I guess they think they are smarter than we are! Our government is just a growing, money eating machine. They can continue to tax all of us and then spend it and BILLIONS more as "they" see fit.

I'll bet 4-5 of my friends and I (or probably any 5-6 working Americans) with the right power could cut the size of the government, reduce taxes and probably balance the budget in no more than a year. But it would require that all the agencies, departments, departments w/in departments, Homeland Security, and CONGRESS and the WHITE HOUSE would have no say in how it was done. But, it could never happen (never say never)...

Pelosi and Stimulus Package

As an independent voter, I support Obama. With that said, I do not support these congressional chair warmers, either party, that are addicted to power and don't know when their time is up. They need to turn over to the the next generation, but, instead, they are determined to die at their desk. How sad is that? Pelosi needs to go. We do not need another stimulus package. We need to cut spending, and tell the citizens the truth about coming tax increases to pay off this ridiculous national debt we are accumulating that is approaching 1 year's worth of our TOTAL GDP! So, what do you think the interest on that debt is? One TRILLION for the Iraq war that has bought us NOTHING. The government is going where irresponsible home owners and speculators went before. Maybe Ted Stevens can take the other Ted with him. Listen up, quit voting these losers in, and get some fresh thinking in the Congress. Byrd can't even stay awake during the sessions! PS: McCain is part of this bunch.

middle class

I'm considered a middle class but by a means I don't have a lot of money. We make to much to get help from the goverment but not enough to live on. I think it would really be good for the econmy to give out another check to me I think we pay enough into the goverment to recieve something back. My husband served in Iraq and made about 50,000.00 for a year and if you go over as a regular contractor you make over 100,000.00. I think our military personal should get paid more then what they do. I just think everything is so messed up and I don't think anyone can bail us out. I could go on forever but I'm not. I think the rich should live in our shoes and try to make it pay check to pay check and see how hard it is and how much stress it puts people under.

On Unemployment

Please consider giving the american people some money to spend in christmas time for our kids, this will definitely come in handy, as you see I am on unemployment, and the rich have nothing to worry about. thanks for listening........I hope our american dream can come true.........

I Agree

Give us a check now and we will spend it...

An excellent article by Katherine Skiba. I only wish more emphasis could be placed on individual responsibility! Everyone needs to wake up and begin to live within their means. This includes our politicians! Bailing out States, what's next? Furthermore, there should never have been so much loose money in Wall Street for the greedy tyrants to blow! What little savings we have has diminished to cover their poor decisions. We are saddling our own and our children's future by continue to borrow foolishly. Obama doesn't have any answers! His first week in office (UGH)he will have a press conference to tell us the situation is worse than he thought and will announce new taxes for everyone who makes enough to pay. The "poor" will continue to be poor as they are poor for a reason. In his feeble attempt to re-distribute the wealth he will only make every taxpayer poorer and those who are on the receiving end of his gratuities will only become more dependent and less responsible for their own welfare.

Blotted Politicians

It is amazing how somw of OUR elected officials were so willing to give practically a 100 billion dollars to businesses to try and bail them out. Then they turn around and say that they can not afford to spend any more money to help out the american people. Funny how that works out for all the friends these officials have in the banking industry got help. I would lov eot know which official made this statement,"Others caution that extending unemployment benefits gives people a reason not to look for work and that bailing out foundering states rewards those that made bad choices." If they are so concerned about not wanting to help states because they made bad choices then these banks and insurance companies that made poor decisions should not get a dime either. I mean if the little people have to suffer then so should the big peopple who thought they could do whatever they wanted.

Stimulus package

I am so tired of the government saying another check would not help anyone since people did not spend the first one. It doesn't take rocket science to figure out that if they sent everyone another check right before christmas that stores would see it this time. Wait too long and yep it isn't going to be spent again. I am sick and tired of hearing how they want to extend the unemployment and more foodstamps. What the heck about us who are working and still can't afford foor for our children. They either want to help the rich get richer or help the very poor, what about us folks. There isn't three levels any longer, their are the rich, the destitute, the poor and then the upper poor. Pull your heads out and help us.

Economy

All I can say is that in the end we together are creating this problem together. We all stop spending, investing, and whatever else. By doing this we are dumping Gas on the fire. Anyone Knows gas can make a big flame. The bad part is we already injured ourselves and now the situation relies on the less injured to correct the damage that we all try to blame on one group of people. WE CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS. THINK ABOUT IT(YOU BUY FROM WALMART PROFIT GOES UP)
