Thank you, Arnold!

Gov. Arnold is a wonderful governor! As a Democrat, I can easily tell he is unlike the other 99% of ignorant, corrupt, and W-apologist Republican politicians in this country today. Thanks for taking care of our great state!

Back Pay?

Really, do we really KNOW that the Gov. is trying to do any of these prpposals ? A constant pressure on the employee's who do just make over min. wage...Its a travesty that we have not taken from the top and redistribute.... As if the richest people in California worked so hard...Please.... These are the same people hiring illegal immigrants to hot mop there million dollar homes!!!! RICH STAY RICH...POOR GET POORER!!! This sounds like a very helpful strategy...

Schwarzenegger and the California Budget

He's going to have to soak it up through out the state and have a larger tax on the richest 2%. There's no way around out.

Budget Threats

Governor Schwarzenegger does not accept his $200/year paycheck.

This maneuver is a bold, yet effective one. This will press the legislature who is spending out of control, to do something about it quickly. This is a political maneuver, not a fiscal maneuver. The ball is in the legislature's court to make a fiscal one, to counter it.

Yet you have many government employees who are drowning the system. 200k - 300k range in pay. San Francsico's Municipal Budget is another example of employees paid through the roof.

I agree with his maneuver.

Clutter

You are all getting upset about this wage cut as if it were permanent. The whoe point WAS to get you upset so you would contact your legislators and force them to compromise on the budget. You've gotten upset, but you are misdirecting your anger.

The governor is working within the law. The law says he may cut back wages to FEDERAL minimum wage. It is only temporary, and he is not doing it to balance the budget, obviously, since workers will receive back pay.

The real problem with CA policies lies with our referendum approach to legislation. We had serious budget problems under Gray Davis, yet the voters overwhelmingly approved spending increases through the propositions that year. None of us would approach our family budgets with the same willingness to spend more than we have, so why do we act as if basic thrift does not matter in government?

Basically we are getting what we asked for.

Illegal Immigrants

Know any? I doubt you do. They all have legitimate papers and pay into the system just like anyone else. The budget is inflated due to poor financial management, throwing everyone into prison for anything a corrupt judicial system deems justified, outrageous salaries for the legislative body, and contributions to big industry corporations. It's funny how the poor will always point the finger at the people who have even less instead of those who have far too much. Actually it's sick. Educate your ignorant selves! Get rid of the so called illegals, upon whose ancestors land we actually live, and I guarantee the economy goes into depression. None of you will take those low end jobs and if you do your efficiency at it will be just as bad as it is in your government jobs, if not worse.

To those prison workers: Your very presence there supports an ugly system. Take the advice of the private sector people and get the hell out. How many real criminals are there in those prisons? How many rapists, murderers, molesters, kidnappers, and burglars are there compared to drug dealers and drug possessors? I'd be willing to bet not many. A revamping of what constitutes a criminal and what determines a prison sentence is of extreme importance right now as far too much money goes into prison life.

Looking at the broad picture I'd personally be happy to see a dissolution of all government as all government does is lie, cheat, steal, and make it's people miserable.

RECALL SCHWARZENEGGER!!!!!!!

California voters...I was one but did not agree to this...shoved Gray Davis out and held the door open for Schwarzenegger simply because the media said they should. No one did any research and no one was really suffering at the hands of Davis. I knew Arnie would lead to ugly repercussions, so did many others in the Bay Area. Well, here it is. Don't you think it's time to give this fool the same treatment that got him into the office of governor in the first place and send him back to making crappy kid movies like Kindergarten Cop???? Actors have no place in politics...ever.

WAGE CUTS

This is very hard to even think about. My God just what will the people who work in places like the CHP and Corrections do if the wages are cut to the $6.55 .Who would work as a cop or correctional officer for that kind of money.Who will take over if they walk out.It is not just them but I sure dont that type of service to stop,DO YOU?.JUST how many people will this hurt?200,000 that how many.Plus the ones that go from $8.00 to $6.00 per hr.Our California Governor and his people were given the job to take GOOD care of the state and the people living in it.Cutting them off at the knees is not the way..SURE HOPE SOMEONE HAS A BIG BROOM.

Get a load of those employees excluded from the cuts

Potential impact on state workers

Affected

200,000 workers would see their pay cut to the federal minimum wage of $6.55 an hour.

7,923 permanent intermittent employees, including some Caltrans maintenance workers, would be laid off.

8,270 seasonal workers, such as state park employees and student assistants, would be laid off.

5,662 retired state workers who have been called back to work on specific projects would be laid off.

Excluded*

120 state legislators

565 political appointees, from executive staff to commissioners

2,164 legislative staff

YA

I'LL BE BACK TO TERMINATE YOUR WAGE...YAAAA.

Schwarzenegger thinks that he can cut the wage and get away with it? He plans to save money but at the expense of the people. The illegal immigrants that Arnold was supposed to protect CAlifornia from are leeching our state deficit and costing the state to dip in and take our money. This is very wrong even if it is to save the crappy economy what is it worth when people now are barely making ends meet.
