Democrats Have High Hopes for House and Senate Races
Amid a favorable political landscape, Democratic leaders predict a "tectonic-plate election."

The voluble Schumer doesn't mince words about what's ahead if Democrats win big, regain the keys to the White House, and enlarge their majorities in Congress. "If we get in in 2009, and we don't solve people's problems, they'll kick us out as quickly as they put us in," he says. "So the big challenge, bigger than the election, is actually getting real things done."

"Europeans are pretty well off these days. At least they enjoy a strong currency, good health care, a social net, free education, lack of genetically modified and drugged up produce, six weeks of vacation a year, the list goes on.. and might I add that they are also more productive per hour than their American counterparts?"
Uh, have you actually been there? So much of what goes on there is media hype. The Socialist countries which are somewhat in a better place have strict immigration laws, are small countries, and are homogenous. And keep in mind that most live meager lives where cars, houses, etc are considered luxuries. When you reap what you sew you will achieve more, when you don't you will languish as the incentive is gone. The trick is finding the happy medium which so far no one has.

I do not want a president who knows how to win wars. I want a president who knows how to prevent them, who does not see wars as a means of resolving problems, and is honest enough and intellegent enough to see this present war as an unprovoked and illegal war. One based on lies and with the usual end result of thousands of ordinary working men and women either dying or being horribly maimed for the remainder of their lives.
