There was no playing favorites in trying to maintain the so-called special relationship between Britain and the United States. New British Prime Minister Gordon Brown (left, with Barack Obama) met for 45 minutes with each of the three major presidential candidates in Washington before heading to the White House for talks and dinner with George Bush.
