Tracing presidential leadership through Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and Barack Obama

sure Lynn... I've had enough of apology tours thanks.
"in a country that is now embedded in hatred, intolerance and a lack of compassion or caring for anyone other than ourselves"
Funny you bring up Obama:
hatred: "G*ddam America" The One's pastor for a couple decades at least.
intolerance: "my grandma was a typical white woman", "those that cling to guns and religion"
lack of compassion: "I wanna give a shout out to blah blah blah" meanwhile back at the reanch**** soldiers dead and some fighting for their lives after an islamic radical terrorist attack***, 'babies that survive late term abortion procedures should be left to die' (not quoting but supported a policy along those lines).
caring for anyone other than ourselves: "I won", 'here's an ipod your majesty, with MY speeches'.
I hate OBAMA
he is some ghreedy comma who wishs the berlin wall still up
Berlin Wall
Axelrod's "observations" comparing Obama to Reagan are fanciful; Obama has received a Nobel Prize for doing nothing, while Reagan's defeat of Soviet communism liberated hundreds of millions of Eastern Europeans. Where Reagan was actuated by love of his country, Obama is ashamed of America, for which he constatnly apologizes, and which he considers "racist," "sexist," "classist," "homophobic," etc.
Stopping the 'Cold War'!
The cold war was ended when the United States, under Ronald Reagan's leadership, was led to the edge of financial ruin when Reagan intiated the 'Star Wars' anti-missile system. For the USSR to compete was a guarentee of their financial ruin! The USSR rewcognized this and relented.
Are we not seeing a similarsituation with the China/USA relationship? The dollar is plummeting on the World market and we can't compete in the production of real products! We are heding into disadster with the present leadership of Congress and the President!
Is anyone concerned??
Berlin Wall
It's expressed in "The Legacy
Of the Berlin Wall" that its fall
Was thanks to The Presidency.
Reagan, Bush, Gorby did it all?
"Tear down this wall." - Reagan's demand
To Gorby, neither hurting there.
The fall really came at the hand
Of a people seeking to share
Once more a Fatherland as one.
Some Americans often think
That The Presidency has done
A world of wonder in a wink.
The Berlin Wall was torn down by
German people to unify.
Ronald Reagan and The Berlin Wall
It was Ronald Reagan's genius in deploying research in what his critics carped as "Star Wars". With the brilliance to begin, and especially to *publicize* the Strategic Defense Initiative Reagan proved the straw which broke the USSR's "camel's" back. They couldn't afford the research.
Also Lyn of AZ has it completely wrong WRT President Reagan and the AIDS epidemic of the 1980. The "victims" of that plague had only themselves to blame because of their despicable actions. There was no need for the American taxpayer to cure them.
Obama Sucks
Obama did not mention Ronald Reagan nor Margaret Thatcher and their role in the demise of the Berlin Wall when he gave his little self-promotional speech. Whiny Axelrough made appropriate excuses to backstop him.
What the hell is the matter with this current boy-president that he can not give any one else credit or recognition for what they have done?
He can sit on his hands and do nothing about the human rights violations in Iran and buddy up with Hugo Chavez and other communist and Muslim sympathisers.
Obama is destroying this country with every breath he takes.
The Walls
Strange that highlighting the Fall of the Berlin Wall deadened our awareness of the current building the Wall that divides Palesinian families from their own families and Palestinian workers from their place of work. Some of my Jewish friends are also concerned about this insensitive political decision.
Reagan, Obama and the Berlin Wall
It's always amazing to watch Revisionist History at work. Reagan's role in changing the political realities in the USSR and Eastern Europe are greatly exaggerated, and Mr. Reagan's shining moments are few and far between. Reagan began the shift in this country from one that tried to care for all citizens to one that cared for businesses first, rich people 2nd, and, then only, maybe others who have been less fortunate. In Reagan's time, the AIDS virus emerged, but because the people dying were not white, rich born-again Christians, he opted to deny federal funding for treatment and research. Reagan was the champion of massive, unreasonable cuts to all programs that assist the disabled that were facilitated in ways that were cruel and inhumane. Reagan's greatest message is that this country only cares for rich white people. An undeniable legacy of Reagan is that "We the People" refers only to those we in power decide are worthy to heck with the other 68% or so left behind.
Obama has not yet had the time to show us if he'll find a way to bring change about in a country that is now embedded in hatred, intolerance and a lack of compassion or caring for anyone other than ourselves. The comments above make clear how hard that work will be. For the sake of this country, I hope he is successful.
Obama is Not Reagan or a Real Leader
Please do not even compare Obama and Ronald Reagan. Our current president is nothing more than a radical teleprompter reader. He is ruining this country every day. If he hates the US so much, why did he want to be president? Ronald Reagan was a great man and a great leader. Obama is nothing more than a man.
