regime
Kenneth, please look up the word regime. The term is primarily used for an authoritarian government that is not fairly elected. The US presidency is not a government - it's one branch of three. Franklin Roosevelt did not have a regime - neither did Bill Clinton.
Obama vs Bush
All I can say is I voted for Obama and I don't even want to hear a republican rant for at least 4 years. Bush and Cheney had 8. And look what they left us. Unraveling a mess this big will take time and effort. We should all be working in that direction.
"Give him a chance..."
WhiteHorse, interesting revisionist history you 'recall'. Early days of Bush presidency were a NON-STOP stream of vitriol from Dems continuing to insist that the Bush family and the VRWC (Vast Right Wing Conspiracy), including the Supreme Court, had stolen the rightful presidency of Al 'The Planet' Gore (even after one recount after another by liberal rags failed to validate their position). They were also a continuous stream of character assassinations of the man. No Dems or liberals withheld judgment and 'gave him a chance'. That changed, however, after 9/11, when such partisan snipes were deemed obviously in poor taste during such a crisis, and likely to inspire only a backlash from the country. So partisan sniping was put on hold for a lengthy period while the country grieved and sought justice in Afghanistan. Bush's approval ratings, in fact, soared at this time when Americans felt he took command of the situation and spoke for them in demanding justice and retribution. This politically motivated grace period in fact extended into his THIRD year, even accompanied by overwhelming public support of the invasion of Iraq initially. Only AFTER difficulties were subsequently encountered in Iraq and the Dems sensed that Americans had recovered sufficiently from their trauma that they could reenergize their venomous attacks without backlash, did they do so in spades and peel off layers of weak-stomached Dems and liberals back into their original anti-Bush frenzy. You folks love to rewrite history - just like with the Monday morning quarterbacking of the war in Iraq and the subsequent claim that 'everyone' knew Saddam had no WMD's or active programs. Go to the library and pull up some archives from Jan, '01, through Mar, '03, to reacquaint yourself with the ACTUAL history of the times.
Obama and economy
I voted for Obama but I don't expect miracles. Give the man and his advisors a chance. It might take some time to change eight years of disasterous presidential policies.
No Room For Neo-Cons
I used to vote as a Republican, but at some point during the Bush administation's curious idea of governing (as opposed to actually serving the best interests of mainstream America),I became an Independent. I'm glad to see Obama as president of the U.S. When compared to an old guy like McCain, who can't remember how many homes he owns and who (presumably still) wants to stay in Iraq forever and who chose a nincompoop to be his running mate, Obama is a shining beacon of hope. It is too soon to judge Obama's effectiveness as president, but I'd have to say, despte a glitch or two, he's off to a good start. At any rate, during the early days of George Bush's presidency, I don't remember reading or hearing the sort of vitriol that Republicans (mostly neo-cons) have been spewing about Obama in just his first few months as president. As I recall, most everyone, even those who disliked Bush, declined to say much of anything and waited to see how he would do. But then well into the second year, when it became evident that things were not going in the direction that we had hoped, people spoke out. I think we owe it to the president to at least give him a chance.
BLAZING NEW TRAILS????
KENNETH, PASS THE "KOOL-AID" MAYBE I'LL FEEL BETTER AFTER THIS DISASTROUS PRESIDENCY! YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

Reader #1- your grammar is horrible. I suggest you mop it up before attempting an intelligent conversation about the topic.
#2: Don't forget George Bush created the largest deficit ever.
#3: clarify what you mean by America is losing it. We lost it when we sold our soul to the corporations. What were you expecting from this president.
