American was hit yesterday in Indonesia
wow i thought Obama was going to school in Indonesia how come we keep taken hit from Indonesian terrorist in Bali, if Obama can't provide his extra protection in Bali indonesia than he should move the Embasy back to the US instead same thing in Yemen and Kenya too because it not safe to send US personel to place that they can't get extra sort of protection for their life. Maybe American should think to out all the people who work in the Embasy and business there the people there ain't like the USA at all they are kinda hardline extremist religious that are hostile toward the American. Leaving American personel there without proper protection only mean 1 thing disaster everyone who work and do business their specialy the american interest oversea, I gues when the interest get to big people get blind by the power of money they wouldn't care about their death to work there anymore
Pressure on Iraqis
I agree that it is now up to Iraq to show that it can unite (politically more than anything else) to deal with a common threat. That said, I think the US forces certainly still have a role to play, because the Iraqis will not be able to deal with all the initial threats themselves, unless they are exceptionally fortunate. There is a good article on www.asiachroniclenews.com.
Motown 67 is out of touch
"The most important message that Obama is delivering is that Iraqis need to solve their own problems. They can't keep looking to the Americans to do everything for them, which is what they currently do on many matters."
The reason Iraqis look to the US to solve Iraq's problems is because the US is directly responsible for creating many of those problems in the first place. If your city was bombed to pieces, it's infrastructure destroyed, it's government and support services dismantled, as the US did in Iraq, wouldn't you be demanding restitution from those responsible for that destruction? Restoring order and services is the least the US can do for a country the US has conquered and is now conveniently exploiting for its own economic gain.
Another example of how many Americans are, as usual, out of touch.
Obama's Iraq policy
Obama's message to Iraq is an important departure from the past. The Bush White House gave the Iraqis a blank check. They never pressured them, and never set benchmarks. The idea was that Iraq would reform itself when violence went down. That didn't happen. The Bush White House also wanted to keep troops in Iraq until Iraq had fixed all of its problems from spending it budget, to fighting corruption, to defeating the insurgency. Only when it was faced with leaving office did it agree to the Status of Forces Agreement that set a withdrawal deadline because they didn't want a Democratic administration to create that deal. The most important message that Obama is delivering is that Iraqis need to solve their own problems. They can't keep looking to the Americans to do everything for them, which is what they currently do on many matters. musingsoniraq.blogspot.com
Smartest thing I've heard him say.
But I did notice a subtle reminder of the Obama I've come to know and loathe,
a "complete" collapse into violence.
Antbody besides me wonder why there seems to be continuing terrorist activity in Iraq but not here?
