Bush's Gracious and Cooperative Attitude Toward Obama
In the final days of his presidency, Bush's conciliatory attitude is a reminder of what might have been

Bush won and lost
W. was picked clean by the liberal media. He did much I disliked however the ugliness came from the way left of center. Obama is going to have the same challenge because he spent 2 years bashing Bush.
well it's all over
Maybe he's being nice to everyone now because he's only got another couple of days of hanging about the White House. Seriously, I never doubted this guys integrity. You can see he's a good guy, who loves his family, and honestly wants the best things for his country. But God love him, he should never have been President. Along with that integrity, you can sense a hopeless case of incompetence, and yes, general stupidity. Obviously he's not an idiot, as so many have suggested, or he would never possibly have been made President. But being a President requires a certain talent and curiosity he simply hasn't got. Lord knows how he actually became President. Of course, it doesn't hurt to be daddy's son. I thank George Bush for his service to his country, and for leading America through 9/11, but you can't deny his entire Presidency has been a complete disaster.
With W through thick and thin
Good for you, Mr. Bush. What a change from the open contempt that the Clinton White House treated you with during the previous transition.
You're going to be another Harry Truman. Reviled in office, and revered in retrospect. Well done sir. Enjoy your retirement.
So many examples
I'm so overwhelmed by the many examples the Left have provided of W not being a gentleman. Oh wait nevermind.. just another collective delusion they're having.
Cool!
By my count each and every one of the thirty people left in America that think Bush isn't a total arrogant failure has now posted to this thread.
Kinda scary when you look at the record and then try to match it up against the comments on here. Each and every thing he did failed. Each and every thing he stood for was proven wrong. He spent eight years looking around the world saying 'Gee, what can I screw up next?' He had 'resolve' because he succeeded in screwing up everything. What color is the sky in your world, Bushies?
"Hateful Liberals"
Bob..NE Ohio stated, "Liberals have hated President Bush since day 1."
This is simply not true. Many liberals, myself included, thought Bush's comments about "compassionate conservatism" were encouraging, and had an open mind about him. Check his approval ratings for 2001 PRIOR to 9/11. After September 11, liberals gave full support to the president, as his close to 90 approval rating shows.
In the time between the election and 9/11, I can honestly say there were just two things I questioned about the Bush administration. The first was Cheney's "energy summit," when he not only refused to invite or include any factions from what might be called the vanguard energy elements (big oil, Enron, etc.), and further refused to even disclose what was discussed or how it might affect US energy policies.
I think it was fair that many liberals were uneasy with this, although I recall few but the extreme left "hating" Bush for this.
Likewise, I disagreed with his massive tax cuts for the rich (due to the marginal, almost reach-around, nature of the middle class cuts). I felt this was bad policy, but, again, I didn't "hate" Bush, and still felt he had the potential to become a good, possibly even great, president.
I think those stances were fairly common among the majority of liberals, excluding, again, the far-left Mother Jones element of the left.
Your suggestion that liberals just "spew hate" is both far off the mark and disingenuous. It's the very reason you lost the White House, and will probably not see it again for many years.
I think it is highly unlikely you will learn from this lesson, but, frankly, that is your problem and yours alone. Good luck with that...
Isn't Sad
Ken Walsh and that Senior Clinton aide must have lived under a rock for the last 8 years. It wouldn't have mattered what George Bush did to melt the hearts of hardened liberals. It would not have worked. The liberal left and now their icon,
Nobama did nothing but spew hatred for George Bush. In fact,
Nobama got elected on that hatred. Now he can't understand
why a certain segment of America feels that same disdain towards him. He has got to be kidding.
George Bush has turned out to be the gentleman here and Nobama
just an empty suit who wanted to be the first, dare we say it,
black President.
America has never been fooled before so badly as it has with the Kenyan Con. Im hoping and praying America survives the Kenyan Con.
you're kidding , right?
I find it interesting that Mr. Bush has suddenly turned gracious and magnanimous at the end of his term, and how conservatives can make it into something of a strength. He's a joke and always will be. It's really no mystery that after close to eight years of misery and failure, he has no other choice but to show some openness and acceptance of the incoming administration. He is a broken man. The republican party is a laughing stock. And one should make no mistake that that stupid frat boy grin would still be on his face to the very end had he had even one success he could honestly talk about. Save the ridiculous comments. You're all freaken scary.
Thank you for your service
I for one would like to thank President & Laura Bush for their 8 years of service to our country. Very few Presidents had to serve under such trying conditions and right or wrong, we all owe them our thanks. We should be as gracious to them as they are being to our new President elect. WE need to learn to be less partisan if we expect our leaders to lead us in such a manner. I wish the President and First lady many happy years of retirement.
Hateful Liberals
Wow...Just read most of the posts and how sad. Liberals have hated President Bush since day 1. Why??? Before Iraq, before Gitmo, before all the bubbles popped (bubbles that were created in the 90's), liberals hated President Bush. Well enjoy the next 4 years and pray that your family is safe from all who wish us harm. Get ready to hate somemore in 2012. Jeb Bush/Sarah Palin in 2012. Liberals will have another 8 years to spew hate.
