Aides said Obama also spent much time conferring with advisers about the problems he will face as president, including the latest crisis in the Mideast and the sinking economy.
Obama was born in Honolulu in 1961 and spent 14 of his first 18 years there with his family.
After their 12-day vacation, Barack and Michelle Obama will move to Washington this weekend so their two daughters, Sasha and Malia, can start school next week. They will stay at a local hotel until January 15, when the Blair House, the traditional temporary residence of presidents-elect, is ready for them. Then, starting with his Inauguration Day of January 20, it's on to the White House.

George W. Bush an avid reader? LOL the man can barely pronounce words that he read off of teleprompters or even the little black box that was supposedly hidden during his election or re election i forgot which. Bush can only read my pet goat, hell probably not all that well.
