Traditionally, Presidential inaugurations have been celebrations by the elected official instead of celebrations of democracy as George Washington had envisioned. America tends to get captured in the celebrity of the President instead of the humility of the office. It is such an awesome responsibility to be honored with the trust, hopes, dreams and expectations of a nation that as Washington realized the individual is far eclipsed by the aspect of the ceremony. Because President Washington had fought to establish our nation along with his army of patriots, he knew the importance of humility in the light of such sacrifice of life, liberty, wealth, property and freedom of those who had toiled to establish our nation yet as years have transpired the humility has been lost. As we are now once again engaged in a brutal war, with our valiant soldiers once again in peril, the aspect of humility should once again become dominant as we must recognize those who make democracy and our nation possible. Let us remember the phrase, All gave some and some gave all on inauguration day!!!
