Yes, I do not like abortions either, but the Chinese have no choice. They have limited land and a growing population. Other countries restrict Chinese immigration to their countries. Unless there is a way to solve the problem of limitations on natural resources, abortions are going to continue. If you want China to stop the one-child policy, you are actually advocating to have the Chinese all starve to death.
China is growing richer, many educated urban Chinese support the one-child policy. One day when China fully develops, it may no longer need the one-child policy. However, they just can't do it now.
Forced abortions in China
In my opinion, the United States should not instate full, normal relations with China, as long as the latter continues its policy of forced abortions, part of its one-child policy. Even though this is a basic human-rights issue that Democrats and Republicans should agree on, I'm afraid the Obama administration may not make strong enough demands on China. His liberal constituency is pro-abortion; a move of any kind against abortion may lose him in good standing with them.
If the so-called human rights advocates of the left are opposed to China's cruel policies, then let's hear them raise a hue and cry over it. Otherwise, don't expect the new administration to force change. It's a shame human life has become politicized.
