henry louis gates jr. the RACIST
Henry is a RACIST, who tried unsuccessfully to discredit a police officer who responded to protect his home from a burglar called in not by the police but by a concerned neighbor. With the information given as two men breaking into the front door. The police officer did his job, Gates responded aggressively and inflamed the situation because of his hatred of a white individual in authority. He played the race card as usual and it backfired on him. The nation saw him as a RACIST not the police officer doing his duty. USnews is afraid to explain it as it happened, because they are afraid of being called racist.
It will make it harder for Gates to play the race card more than once, after your caught being the RACIST.

lil man
I think if your have a issue and you have a friend that want's to help even know he is the Prisdent Of The United States then so be it. Lay off of the man you dont know the stuff he goes through each day...
disrespect of property and property owner
now i may be dreaming, but tell me how many white homeowners in affluent neighborhoods have been arrested by either black or white policemen for "disorderly conduct" in their homes,of all places...what happened to that sanctity. i think any person(excluding a nun, i.e., mother teresa) returning from a vacation and having to deal with being locked outta their home would be kinda ill-tempered or frustated with anyone questioning them as to why they are trying to get into their own home(maybe he had to use the bathroom or didnt exactly know/remember where his i.d. was). strangely enough his neighbor didnt recognize him either and only saw 2 black men w/ bags trying to force a door open, hmmmm.maybe if people didnt jump to conclusions and stereotypes and got to know their neighbors regardless of race, things like this wouldnt happen. also, the police did act stupidly and racist, even if defended by a black officer upholding the color(blue)line/covering up for his fellow officer;as we know, they are trained to do this in order to keep that job and use the code of silence in most police dept. in this day and age,a prominant(but not well known like an athelete/celebrity) friend of the president who happens to be black can be humiliated and arrested for such foolishness which really wasnt a crime, speaks volumes about the true state of race relations in this country of ours. most black men know that all too often we are not given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the law and legalities.whereas, white folks regularly get the "slap on the wrist" treatment or no sanctions at all.if gates were white, he'd have gotten an apology from the police and if crowley had been black he'd have gotten a reprimand from his superiors or fired once they found out that gates was a friend of the president and the house in question was his home. disappointed in obama for his wimpish/pc falling back in regards to his "stupidly" comment and calling for that silly feel good display of false comraderie.that was a prime opportunity to stand up against racial profiling and overly aggressive police tactics used against the majority of black men in this country. he could have shown that even the president, of us all, can not turn a blind eye to obvious racism or policemen going overboard.had gates been a poor black man in a low income neighborhood he prbly would have been shot/killed by the police...also gates, being the type of professor/author that he is, could have used this as an opportunity to shine some light on this dilemna as well. so sad was the whole encounter and aftermath that ensued.it was a case of an african-american property owner and his property being disrespected and of putting an "uppity negro" in his place.sounds so 1950ish,doesnt it.the responses and twists to this story by the media only added fuel to the fires of ignorance and diluted the real issues surrounding this story...compare it to the tiger woods incident,ok.(maybe not the best comparison but...
Disrespect
When I leave my house and go on to public land, I know better than to talk smack to a police officer. When asked for my ID, I give it to them to see regardless of the race of the officer. I do not count on the press or the president to bail me out and turn what would have been solely my disrespectful attitude into a race issue and thereby cheapen the valiant efforts of people like Dr.King and others. This was a matter where the police had a call to check out a possible break in, they came to protect people and property in area...in other words their job. We count on them to do their job to keep us safe. If he had given his ID right away as asked as a good citizen should have the issue would have been resolved quite quickly and freed the police officer to be on his way to protect and serve. The delay because of a pride issue could have possibly led to a situation where that officer might have been the closest to a violent crime and someone else needlessly suffered instead of being saved...and the reason for that would be???? A stupid sense of pride and over inflated sense of self worth by someone who made a race issue out of a simple case to show Identity in order to resolve an investigation.
THE ENCOUNTER
If godly conduct and the golden rule had prevailed, this situation would never have made the headlines. There are right thinking policeman who are focused on doing their job to protect and serve. As well, the historicial policy of racism
occurs daily to many minorities. We cannot judge whether this incident was purly racism but i do believe that there is definitly a generation and cultural gap. It is fitting and proper that we learn to listen and get to know each other, only then will a finer America emerge.Thank God for a wise president who can admit he misspoke and sought to make relations better A good model for us to use to reach out to people who we perceived different.
gates
I feel that the president should not have opened his mouth on the matter. It only made it worst when he put the race card out there. Then to know that gates is a friend of his that he is taking up for. And to add any kind of color code with fact is not the work he should be doing. He made it a color thing. Not saying anything would have been the best thing for him to do. He tends to forget who he works for. The whole of the people, not just his friend/ or his kind. Did he not have a white mother? Oh, that's right she was most likely the same as his grandmother( just a white woman). What did we relly expect that he would be fair. What did you think he would do when one was white and one was black. Take the police's side. The law in this country is going to change, it will be that if you are black you can get by with almost anything. Cause no one is going to do anything that might be looked at as racism. Now that the president has shown his true color. What do you think America is going to become not all for one and one for all. No he is placing his men and women in the right places to make this country a better place for them to live. Which means my grandchildren wont have a chance. They are not the right color or race. LATER
Tired of the race card
After listening on the TV to the many African Americans
that expressed they had been racially profiled, I
came to the conclusion that they are not as respectful
to authority as the Caucasians. This would also
extend to Geraldo Rivera who thinks people are
picking on him because he is hispanic, but
the first question they ask is "don't you know
who I am?", instead of "sorry, Officer, what
did I do?" as the Caucasian do. I doubt they
ever call the officer "sir", as they think that
is demeaning, however that is a normal thing
to do.
How do we promote proper respect for authority?
Gates Confrontation
I’m saddened that nothing of significance ever gets addressed and that childish retorts seem to appease the very people that should be demanding positive resolution at the root cause of these incidents. The entire story never gets told when an amicable conclusion is drawn and/or solutions implemented. Only the biased innuendo looms to stir aggressions.
This, as is far too many distorted issues, not racist but status based. With racist issues more people get involved, valuable productive time gets wasted and biased emotions get escalated through sensationalized media coverage. Do we as a society really need bigotry as a stimulant to get involved in making this a better Nation or do we want clarity of thought to change what must be changed?
It is well documented that overzealous law enforcement officer acts are evaluated by their own organizations and often encounter passive resistance from their review boards unless it can be associated with racism where as the antagonistic elite step in to rationalize injustice. Much like our Government Review Boards that consistently refuse to implement justice.
It is well hidden that arrogant elitist wannabes are above the laws that are used to control common people and they refuse to acknowledge the standard procedures of due process. Way too often, innocent individuals are punished due to the inability to meet the $tandards of our justice system and the real criminals go unscathed.
The Gates situation, if publicized, would debunk the much ado about nothing that has become a major thorn in the sides of most Americans, regardless of race, creed or persuasion.
