The next four

justices, at least, ought to be women, especially since in four vacancies, we would probably lose Justice Ginsberg. This would merely mirror the make-up of the country as to gender.

The next three justices should probably also be some shade of brown to mirror the ethnicity of our country.

We can only have the audacity to "hope" that Barack will get a chance in eight years to replace one of the current gang of five conservative Catholics which are

Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito, Kennedy.

"will surely face stiff questioning...before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which confirms justices."

That is not correct, Alex. The full Senate is the body that confirms justices. The Senate Judiciary Committee only reports the findings of its own deliberation and investigation. Even a non-favorable recommendation by the committee does not end a nomination (see, e.g., Clarence Thomas in 1991).

Sonia Sotomayor could be disqualified from the Supreme Court

What we need in the Supreme Court is a judge willing to protect the rights of Americans. Sonia Sotomayor needs to explain why she did not seriously consider a complaint (with strong evidence) against a judge, she supervised, who was accused of judicial misconduct. Sweeping misconduct under the rug is a characteristic of the Bush Era. If Sonia Sotomayor wishes to carry on the Bush tradition of secret and twisted government, then Sonia Sotomayor needs not to be on the Supreme Court of a democracy.

President's choice

Just bring back all the quotes of Republicans insisting that the Senate's only role was to rubber stamp the President's choice. No advise, just consent. After screwing America for the last 40 years Republicans should just sit down and shut up.
