Increase Revenue/ Decrease spending

California has natural resources and tapped oil wells off their coast. Invite the oil companies back to untap those wells and benefit from the tax revenue and jobs, it will increase house purchases and property taxes. The other fact is CA will have to cut programs and spending. Federal government help has just prolonged the decision. We could have saved a lot of money by just doing it right the first time.

More welfare/stimulas free money

Why not just ask Obama and the feds for more welfare --opps, stimulas-- money? It's free since only the top 2 or 3% of taxpayers are going to see higher taxes. :)

Drug dealers expose marijuana buyers to other more dangerous drugs. FACT

Marijuana is one thing... smoking pot is a legitimate fun way to spend a weekend evening.

But it's really time for our society to grow up a bit and view ALL drug use for what it really is... A HEALTH ISSUE. We can start by learning that NOT ALL DRUGS ARE THE SAME. Pot is not crack. LSD is not heroin. Responsible drug users already know this and we tire of the naivety of the general public on this issue. But... like I said... let's just begin with ridding society of the mentality that somehow ANY use of a drug is a desperate and immoral act.

As a matter of fact having a wonderful "psychedelic" experience is a privilege. If you knew anything about it you'd then realize how lucky we are as humans to have the mind to be able to appreciate altered states of thinking such as those. Not that it's for everyone... no. But please leave us who DO appreciate it it out of your antiquated and, quite frankly, barbarious legal system. And for those who are addicts on narcotics... give them HELP from a HEALTH FACILITY.

The bottom line is that ANY drug use, regardless of intents or purposes, does NOT warrant jail time. It's an insult to the intelligence of a responsible pot smoker at best and a stigmatizing kick in the shins to any depressed addict at worst. It wastes resources. It exposes them to real criminals. It is a failure of the society as a whole.

(Oh and for those who say narcotics "cause" crime... how bout HELPING the users BEFORE they get so addicted. But don't throw them in jail, before they even do anything violent or destructive, and claim you are "correcting" them.)

Illegal immigration is crushing California, yet the collective idiots in Sacramento won't even talk about it -- and Obama wants to give illegals amnesty under the guise of "comprehensive immigration reform."

Wake up and get politically involved America -- unless you want your state to turn into California.

Marijuana and personal responsibility

Yeah, you think legalization is really what's stopping anyone from doing drugs now? You're fooling yourself. Anyone who wants it is certainly not going to resist because it's illegal. I don't think new law will much of an effect at all on use, but we can now regulate and collect taxes on it. In fact, all the organized crime associated with drugs can disappear.

When was the last time you saw any bootlegging-related crimes? Oh yeah, alcohol is LEGAL.

Then what do we legalize to pay for the increased health care for these people that produce nothing, yet get lung cancer, mouth cancer, decreased brain function, increase in auto accidents, personal injuries and so on.

Who will hire these pot smokers who can't finish a sentence in in under 5 minutes without ten thousands ums and uhs?

Where do we get the money for the increased law enforcement from the drug suppliers, the soccer moms transporting drugs to pay for their kids school who get killed by druggies, the children abused by stoner parents.
