Tim, we never elected Bush in 2000
The 2000 presidential election was stolen with help of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. He had the duty to see that voting machines that make chads must be cleaned out after every election, or they jam and votes are lost. We saw some of them jammed with chads. The Sec. of State failed in her duty and she corrupted the system. A few judges on the Supreme Court gave the presidency to imperfectly-educated Bush. "Jews For Jesus" is a small paperback, but I'm keeping it as a wonderful exposure of the many ways votes were stolen and the way the conspirators did it.
Free enterprise system let him do it
Americans are scared away from having anything to do with having WE THE PEOPLE own anything as public property. Except national parks, maybe. We need public ownership of all utilities and a national transport system, and national theatre, etc. It is good that he is to be stripped of most of what he unlawfully acquired. As for investing in the stock market, it is a gamble. Since the 1987 Crash, I lost over $240,000 on stocks and the IRS lets me deduct it as capitol loss at only $3000 year.
Bernie Madoff, Remembering Ken Lay.
What else is new?
Someone mentioned KEN LAY. How timely to have or perhaps create a heart attack before being indicted. I'll wager he is still alive and living on a Carabian Island. Has any one seen him after his so called heart attack? Has anyone investigated the death certificate and who signed it? Has anyone seen him in his coffin?
Has anyone been a witness to his cremation?
Americans are so gullible. He was a close personal friend of George W. Bush and a multi million dollar contributor to Bush's election. Do we really believe that old George his best buddy would have allowed his good friend to be paraded before the federal courts and accused of any crime?
WHERE ARE ALL OF THOSE CREATIVE "INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS"?
Would'nt that be a GREAT STORY?

Fudiciary responsibility of financial planners, bankers and politiicans
When did the people of the financial world fall off the moral wagon, or have they always been so unscrupulous and we just didn't hear about it? Mr. Madoff was able to bamboozle the security and exchange people for more then a decade, and just now it becomes news!
I for one am scared as hell to get back into the market after seeing people lose 1/3rd to 1/2 of their 401k retirement fund to these scoundrels. The credit drunken binge that the country has been on, with the help of the bankers and the politicians and credit card companies has also helped to turn the market into a bigger crap shoot then it already was. I retired a few yesrs ago and put my money in a stable value fund. I didn't make 10% a year as the people under Mr. Madoff's care did but then where are they now? I didn't see my 401k plunge when the market plunged. I now have my money in annuities and C.D.'s until the charlatans of wall street go to jail or are out of business and some credibility returns to the market. Deregulation and inept policing by the government was the receipe for the mess we are in along with the illusion that the big new over priced and overleveraged house I buy will be my ticket to fame and fortune when I sell it at retirement for a huge profit and sail off into the sunset. Where will we find all these buyers when there are no jobs? I accrued money in my 401k by investing in mutual funds and then moved into a stable value fund and had no loss in the down turn of the market. The young people that are in the market will have a chance to recupe their losses but for the older investors losses of this magnetude is a death notice, no differen't than the 150 years in jail that I hope Mr. Madoff gets for his superior acumen in the investing world. The lesson for investing today is live within your means and caviot emptor, or buyer beware! We have a plethora of problems on our plate as a country and some are unemployment and illegal immigration. By deporting the illegals we will go a long way toward solving the unemployment problem. This approach was used several time in our past and it needs to be used again. The building trades are overrun with illegal workers who displace U. S. citizens when the jobs become available again. The problem is the employers of illegals need to be fined formnmmn the first offense and jailed each time thereafter just to get their attention and make the alure of greedy illegal profits less attractive. A fair wage for a days work and a safe work environment is what seperates us from a third world country but some companies have a myopic view of nn what the labor laws are all about and see the law as a suggestion.
Until we get some meaningfull leadership from our legislators in these matters we will become and stay America the land of the brave and the home of the unemployed! Or just another third world country that is controlled by a few grossly rich with blessing of there croney polititions in their pockets circumventing the law.
Never Invest In The Stock Market Again
I would say no one should ever invest in the stock market again and we sure as hell don't want a governmemt controled pension plan like PBDC and Social Security. Why aren't the people running these funds in prison for life too. Why, the press is distracted you by pointing their fingers at the newest fall guy, bernie madoff and you're still getting screwed. Be wise and put your money in a secure savings plan, period.
He was a prominent donor to the Democratic party
Most people don't know Mr. Madoff was a big financial backer of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. We heard to no end about how Ken Lay had been a supporter of Geoge W Bush but for some strange reason the press never mentioned Mr. Madoff's politics.
Madoff at U of Ala.
He was a pledge of the SAM fraternity - was never "activated". Had to leave school early due to the death of bis father.
Don't be fooled
this man is not alone. this nonsense has been going on forever. Madoff is not the first and wont be the last, and trust me when i say, there are others out there just like him. he is just one that got caught. It is completely unbelievable that this man began this scheme in 1991 and it took 17 years to catch him? i believe the family was in on it as well, and when the cat was let out of the bag, thats when Mr. Wonderful had his sons' turn him in to protect them. the problem in corporate America is that we have to many Fat foxes guarding the hen house. remember Enron? oh, Bush is another one.
the best way to punish a rich person is to take away all his money (and wife's too) and house arrest him a condemn building with no windows, no furniture, no TV or any type of media, no visits from anyone but the authorities. just a roll of tiolet paper so he can use as a pillow. to live the rest of his life like the bum that he is. or a public execution to warn all the other corporate crooks out there, because he is not the only one!
