Mother of a Heroin addict
As a mother of a 20 year old heroin addict, it is a day to day worry and struggle and worry where is Kelly???? is she okay? She is not answering her cell phone is she using again, not working or going to school, has been in and out of rehab and weekly meetings. I live my life in constant fear of losing her. Most of us do not have the funds or resources to pay for how much rehab they really need 28 days is not enough I feel for the families who have lost a loved one Kelly has lost some of her friends from high school.
Lost and worried in Lakemoor Illiniois.
Addiction tearing apart your family?????????????
Just wanted to give a shout out to any parents, cousins, brothers, sisters, friends... everyone and anyone who is watching someone struggling with addiction.
It can tear apart a home and relationships. Its best to talk to someone who has been through a similar situation...
I found a great website, well actually more of a support network for the family of addicts. Been very helpful, meeting people who have gone through what i'm going through.

Hi Jess,
I am 28, from NJ and a recovering addict. Jersey City and Newark were just a car ride away and I could get there in 20 minutes. I quit cold turkey 6 years ago and had to detox in front of my parents while they locked the three of us in a hotel room. You will be a much stronger person when you are through this. It is a battle that you will fight every day but now you will have the strength to remember that there are things better than being high.
xo and prayers

In addition all addicts have a lifelong battle.we have to be on guard at all times because addiction is a real life disease as is hiv.both of them kill us, both of them have no known cure, yet we as people feel we have a right to judge an addict because society feels an addict had the choice?well again I am an addict, today I choose not to use drugs yet I've used ever since I were 11 Years old, I am now 36. Yes america we have a disease, we are not low life scum we sometimes have no control over what we do when we are active! Please never judge a person by what you see because we. Or I am a very good person who has a problem which I now can say happily I'm free of all drugs.

If these folks are "ditto heads" (Limbaugh followers) then I can see why they think it is ok. Bigger and better things happen to him after he was caught. Also, in the suburbs kids are sent to decent rehab centers. In the ghetto kids are sent to centers. Detention centers or jail.
I hope government spread the wealth to the poorer neighborhoods for drug treatment and education.
But good luck to you Jessica and we look forward to having you in the U.S. Army.
