Gay Rights and African Americans
First of all, the CNN statistics were not correct.(Look it up on Google). Second, the
gay community includes many African Americans. Third, if there is an African American 'group', there is also a European American 'group' so that logically it could be said that European Americans are to blame for the passage of Prop.8.
I'm an African American and I voted against it as did 3 of my relatives who are also considered African Americans.
European Americans have been responsible for laws against marriage between
non-european Americans and European-Americans up until recently even though they were man-woman marriages,
Racist propaganda and homophobic propaganda are generally the responisiblities of European Americans who make up the bulk of citizens in the U:S.
The only reason this discussion exists is because of the racist mentality that is part of U.S. history which continues to promote the stupid idea of 'race', rather than addressing the history of American cultural propaganda, including the
religious biases that are such a part of U.S. culture and the affect they have on everyone. It may also be that being African American and homosexual is doubly
oppressive while being European-American and homosexual makes it a little less
difficult to deal with psychologically, economically and culturally in a country where you are always asked to declare your 'race', but not your sexual tendencies.
So the propaganda against 'gays' may create some rejection by African Americans, but please stop giving in to the easy desire to accept statistics based on stereotypes.
Religion is a Choice - Being Gay isn't
While Religion is a choice and Homesexuality/Lesbian isn't.... relgious voters should not eliminate rights of others.
Therefore Prop 8 should be overturned.

I think that this vote was more a reaction to the overturning of the previous Proposition by the California courts than to the contents of Prop. 8.

What makes you an expert on homosexuality? I suspect it's nothing but your cruel heart and your blind devotion to whoever is telling you it's ok to treat gay people as less than yourself.
There is good reason why homosexuality is not against the law as the other things you mention are. And speaking of reason, the vast majority of rapists, child pornographers and molesters are heterosexual males. But then, reason evidently plays no part in the workings of your small, vicious little mind.
I hope you someday know exactly what it feels like to be treated with the cruelty you so glibly dish out to gay people. It's really disgusting, and you should experience it for yourself.
How about you tell us even one single way that equal rights for gay people in any way takes away your rights? It doesn't.

You claim I have equal rights because even though I'm a gay man I'm free to marry a woman. I can't even believe someone (supposedly) well-educated would say such an asinine thing. What my problem with the blamning issue. I am a black man who has one vote. If I choose to vote a certain way it is my choice and I do not appreciate that I have to defend the way I vote. If several others of my gender or race feel the same way so be it. I am a third generation Republican but if I choose to vote for Obama it is no ones business but mine. I do not speak for every black in America nor do they speak for me. So if same sex marrige is voted down it is done by a lot of individuals not a group of one race or one gender . This is the American WAY.
