Veterans Groups Sue Bush Administration Over Delayed Benefits Claims

Veterans Disability Benefits
I served in the US Army for 8yrs and I was in the gulf war for the entire campaign and I was stationed in Camp Montery Kuwaitt where the oil wells burned. We constantly had to inhale oil smoke for months and I aquired severe cluster headaches and God knows what else, but to this day I suffer from these headaches and I filed claim after claim and they finally olny granted me 10% disability when Iam clearly qualified for at least 30% I appealed and was told that it would take up to two years to hear from the VA. This is absolutely ridiculas, and something needs to be done.
I can"t give up
I filled a claim for unemployability for my service connected PTSD disability was given C&P by Va Hospital Washington, DC. The doctor said in his report that i was unimployable and the Baltimore Regional office denied my claim anyway without even using the C&P results to rate the claim. I stated this in my request for a DRO in September of 2007. I still have not heard a darn thing for them. It's frustrating as hell yet I can't give up as they seem to wank me to. Does any one know if two years is or is not a resonalble waite concidering the back log of claims VA has. I thought I at least would have been giving a notice for a hearing by now.
chicago va
i have also been trying to get my disability increased from the chicago ve for 8 years to no avail. my case id presently before a dro. i have been bedridden for 9 years and cant walk. i served 20.5 years (14 years active and 6.5 active reserve) in the navy and have done nothing else. the va says my condition is not service related but yet i did nothing but serve in the navy. i have been trying to get a proper rating as i cant work and i was not like this before i went in the service, now i have a hard time supporting my family and the 30 percent disability i get from the va is taken out of my navy regular retired pay. no one seems to care or want to help. my wife helps me but she is strung out and cant work except part time as she has to take care of me. i cant even paint my house nor can i afford it. i wish the chicago va would learn some other word except no.
In Agreement with Time Laps
My name is Eddie Davis. I was discharged in Dec. 1999. I received a 30% disability rating after 13 years of service. I had 13 surgeries during service. I got out and used my VOC Rehap to obtain a Degree. I have, since Dec. 1999 lost 18 jobs. My last job was with Department of Veteran Affairs, CHAMPVA. It was there that I learned about mental disorders. I, of course, was fired from this job just 10 months in. I did not make the 1 year probation. I went to the VA clinis, because I was thinking of killing my self to get insurance for my family. Wife and 3 children. After a short dia by a VA mental health doctor. I was dia. with PTSD, major depression, anxiety, OCD, Hypomania, Bipolar, Personiality Disorder, Chronic Adjustment Disorder and a few others. This is in addition to my physical disabilities I was discharged for. I am currently taking 11 different types of medicaitons for these issues. There are more examinations taking place for possible other concerns. What greatly concerns me, is that I have submitted all of the doctor reports. The VA doctors/physcharitist stated on the report of the C&P exam that "The were results of situations first experienced in the military". I Called today. July 26, 2009. and learned that my claim for service connection has not changed. I worked at CHAMPVA, and Oh My God. I saw, first hand, why we veterans are having the problems we are having. I was fired because I was on the phone too long with veteran and their family members. I gave out information in too much detail. In the call center, there was an unwritten rule that they wanted the talk time on the phones to be less than 6 minutes per call. I, on the other hand, went through the entire file, noticed descrepancies, educated the veteran or family member. Of course, this took time, but as a disabled veteran myself, I put the veteran first, instead of a matrix. I transferred about 17 calls to my supervisor from callers wanting to express their appretiation for the services I provided. I was not reconized at all. Of course, my supervisor and I had issues with not giving the veteran and their family all the information we could. My monthly quality scoures were exellent. They used the 1 year probation to generate a claim that I was not performing professioally enough to maintain employment. No notification of poor performance at all. This is what we veterans are dealing with. Some of the veterans who work there are muffled in order to maintain their employment. Unfortunatelly, I did not learn this before it was too late. This makes my 19 job that I have been fired from. The VA doctors state that I cannot maintain employment. This is on the report, yet, VA denied my claim for increase as not service connected. Though is state by verbatum, on the doctor's report. I intend to persue the issue and appeal. Unfortunatelly, I am aware that I am a needle in a hay stack like so many other veterans. Depespart veterans do desparate things to provide for his/her family.
Is this a democracy or communism?
This is the truth! This country, run by the Bushes, Obamas, along with the congressmen and senators are nothing but communists who have only one thing in mind. Screw the veteran when he returns disabled! They will do everything in their power to keep the ones who served this country honorably from getting compensation when they get sick or come back injured. I can just see the “chiefs” sitting behind their desks thinking “You suckers!” Each and every one of the politicians should be sent to Afganistan and should have serve on the front line. They would then see what it is like to be shot at and possibly wounded, only to come home and be screwed by the VA. One of the requirements for becoming president or serving in the legislative branch of the government, should be service in the military in ACTIVE duty! NOT RESERVES! This world is going down hill fast and our country is going with it. Most of the reason is because of those running it! The VA is doing everything it can to keep their cost down; this includes denying benefits to the deserving.
Chicago Regional Office the Worst
I have been fighting the VA for over 40 years. The Chicago, Illinois Regional Office is the worst! No matter what you file for they deny your claim and you have to appeal and appeal and appeal. Once the Board gets the claim they immediately allow the claim. The VA say the Chicago office is backlogged. Well if they would do the claim right to begin with they wouldn't be so backlogged! Illinois is one of the lowest ranked states for disabled vets and that is because the Chicago VA Regional Office continually jacks the vets around until they either get so discouraged they quit filing and appealing or until the vet dies. I truly think that is what they want; the vet to die! Then they would not have to deal with the claim. It is also a known fact that the claims adjudicators have no medical knowledge and are very under trained in their jobs! Yet nothing is ever done!
gulfwar illness
i am 70% service connected from gulfwar and 100%unemployable. have claim in for depression and anxiety which has lasted more than 10 years i was previously denied depand anx about 8 years ago they did not have all my records then hope they do the right thing this time around i have been suffering for years the inexperienced doctors at va dont help any.
VA claims / shredded or overlooked
Fellow Veterans
I have been trying to get some compensation for 30+ years. I
have been denied time and again when my Military records show
that the problems I am seeking compensation for were incurred
while I served this country. I do not want a hand out, I want
some compensation for the medical challenges I live with today.
I agree with the gentleman who has been trying to win his case
for 42 years, doctors do not always tell the truth.Only I live
within this body and I know the degree of suffering, pain I go
through.I chose the military because I always wanted to do for
my country, protect and serve to keep our freedoms regardless
whether or not I was injured, wounded or killed. I love this
country and would SERVE again if needed.
DO THEY CARE
I AM A GULF WAR VET, MY RECORDS WHERE NEVER LOOKED AT. CLAIMS WERE BASED ON DOCTORS THAT DID NOT CARE OR UNDERSTAND THE EFFECTS OF GULF WAR ILLNESS/PTSD. I AM NOW UNABLE TO WORK BECAUSE OF THE HEALTH PROBLEMS. EVERYTIME I CHECK MY CLAIM, I AM TOLD THE SAME THING. THE REVEIW BOARD IS LOOKING AT IT. ALL MEDICAL RECORDS SHOW THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG,BUT DO THEY CARE? I LOST EVERYTHING I WORKED FOR ALL THESE YEARS, DO THE CARE? THEY HAVE ALL RECORDS FROM TIME OF SERVICE TO PRESENT PLUS FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. NASHVILLE REGIONAL OFFICE NEED TO DO THEIR JOB AND THINK OF THE VETERANS THAT FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY AND NEED HELP NOW.
im glad i lost my job
i finally have time,to follow-up with my claims, the va,makes to many appts.a working person would lose their job, i have nothing but time, turned down twice, gulfwar vet,ill drive them nuts this time,
