A Moribund Nuclear Manufacturing Industry Shows Sign of Life
Campaign pledges to revive nuclear energy would require building factories for high-precision parts

The industry, unsurprisingly, sees things differently. Some proponents argue that not promoting more domestic enrichment is a security concern, because relying on foreign countries to produce uranium fuel creates its own vulnerabilities.
They also point to the stream of jobs that a revival could create—tens of thousands in manufacturing alone and several hundred at each new reactor site. Many of these jobs could be available within a year or two, if not sooner, which would be welcome news for a troubled economy.
