Why is it that California is the trend setter for the things that are not of any importance, but THINGS THAT MATTER ARE BRUSHED OFF TO ONE SIDE.
GOVERNOR, you think like a demogog. You have no vision. You are bankrupting our state and giving large pay raises to your personnal secretary not to mention other high paying officials who only push pencils!
Off shore drilling can be done up by Washington state or Bakersfield. HIGH RANKING Demogog's, we the taxpayer pay for the gas in your tank. Since when do you have the right to choose what is good for the state!

I am so pleased that Arnold has made it clear there will be no drilling for oil off of the California coastline. We love the beauty of our coastline and do not want to lose any more wildlife and sea life due to oil rigs.

Although offshore drilling seems to be a quick fix to the outrageous gas prices, the sad truth is that it would take 5 to 15 years for it to begin driving prices down. By then, many, if not most, of us will have moved on to electric, hydrogen fuel cell, or something else. So, let's throw our emotions and our efforts into getting these options available to the general public a.s.a.p.

An oil spill in 1969? What year is it? I live in this state and after the last few days of listening to some of these comments made by Pelosi, Feinstein, Waters, etc., I don't even know what to say. Okay, vote them out comes to mind.

International treasure, to whom? The beach is nice, but it is not like they are going to plop a rig down on the beach around the lifeguard stand.

How stupid can Arnold be??? First of all, 1969??? This is 2008. The oil companies in the Gulf didn't leak a drop during Katrina only the worst hurricane of the century! So, while CA is waiting for that miracle breakthrough, its citizens have to suffer nearly $5.00 a gallon gas not to mention Diesel's price! By the time their miracle breakthrough comes, CA won't have an economy to afford it! HOW STUPID is THAT??? An intelligent approach would be to drill like crazy, use the state royalties to get them back in the black and make it possible to transition to other ideas. BUT NOOOOO! They're tooo freaking stupid to do that! What a bunch of morons!

For the amount of time, money and resources it would take to even begin extracting we could have developed new technologies, like batteries, algae fuel and solar to get us off of oil. Drilling would be like putting a band-aid on a severed wound. Not only that what do you do when that resource is depleted? What do you do when a massive earthquake hits? Its time elected officials stopped walking part lines came up with creative solutions and quick looking at things in terms of balck and white or in this case red and blue.

Chevron owns the patent and won't allow it. Isn't that price fixing keeping everybody dependent on oil?

Arnold is wrong
Our dependency on foreign supplied oil is our most important current national security issue. Not only is Arnold wrong so is Obama and the rest of the democrats who have stood in the way of a reasonable and measured strategy. In the meantime the cost of gasoline is sinking our economy and the idiotic politicians we put into office need to be shown the door. WHEN WILL AMERICANS WAKE UP AND SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
