An Economic Boost From Gay Marriage

Same-sex marriage is expected to add millions to California coffers

gay marriage

enough. as a heterosexual woman, let me say that the biggest angels in my life have been gay. absolutely - my dearest friends - and cherished role models.

for all of you who feel it is your right to judge - i'm sure that the joke will be on you.

i pray that you open your hearts and your minds.

To Dale who wrote "Agree", to truly think for yourself, I suggest you read the Bible itself instead of a documentary that claims to tell you what the Bible says, and see that God unequivically condemns homosexuality a number of times, and that there is no way for the Bible and homosexuality to "mesh". He loves every homosexual enough to send his son to die for them, but he also says, "Go, and sin no more."

I think those claims about economic gain from gay marriage are exaggerated. In general, homosexuality is about personal pleasure and gratification, whereas marriage is about commitment and working for the good of your spouse. The two are antithetical. In Scandanavia, where civil unions were legalized in the 90's, marriage among all people has declined. After the initial flush, I predict that the marriage industry in California will decline as fewer people bother to marry, unless the voters take back their state from the elitist judges who manufactured "rights" that the constitution writers clearly never intended.

The ones who are hurt the most by gay "marriage" are the children. Every study and survey shows that same-sex relationships overall are less stable and enduring than heterosexual ones. If gay couples are allowed to raise children, it will lead to even more broken homes than our high divorce rate now creates, and broken homes are highly correlated with increased crime by young people. This is NOT saying that every child with homosexual "parents" will turn into a criminal. It is saying that more of them will than would occur if they were all in stable families with a mother and father.

Who's gonna marry "THEM"

I guess none of this matters. It is a sign of the times and "they" are all gonna burn in hell.......so sad!!!!!!!!!!!

Marriage is ordained by God to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Homosexual marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. God forbids and condemns homosexuality, so He clearly is opposed to homosexual marriage.

The Bible does clearly and consistently tell us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). God does not create a person with homosexual desires. A person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27)

Canada fully harmonized its marriage laws several years ago. To those that think, ridiculously, that gay marriage destroys societies, look to Canada for an example otherwise.

Oh, and Dale, well written!

Wow

Wow, whoever wrote the "money up money down" post sounds like they are living in a cave. What a ridiculous, fear-based rant. And whoever you are, as a gay person I resent being defined solely based on who I have sex with. Is that how people define you? That's a single, tiny aspect of who I am as a person in my community. What kind of pervert are you to fixate only on that one thing (which, by the way, is none of your damn business)? And why don't you stop passing judgment and instead use your faith in God for a positive reason rather than a negative one? Homosexual sex is neither unlawful nor immoral, and if you don't personally like it I suggest you don't personally do it.

Excellent

California is leading the way once again. Within 10 years, gay marriage will be legal in all states, this country needs to get over itself and focus on its problems, gay marriage is a good thing in the fight for equality for all of its citizens.

Money up money down

The tide will bring in some bucks and beach whales to rot. When the high of the honeymoon days knocks off you'll see a few marriages that want to end. But this isn't just about money. How much is it going to cost each homosexual family that, instead of ending what was completely their creation, has to end something that is part theirs and part the state's? What will it cost to teach the next generation that homosexual sex is lawful and moral? How much will respect for gender opposite that of my gay parents cost? How much will it cost to hate those who say gay marriage is a sin? How much will it cost to force pastors to stop preaching God's word? How much will it cost to rewrite the moral justification for state laws? It will cost us when not only children wonder who they are, but our laws wonder the same thing. In the end we'll spend so much time staggering from this exploration that we will have forgotten to prepare for our needs. It's possible that we'll find ourselves dependent on other countries in a state of slavery to their resources. We could loose our edge over this.

Good for children, too.

California Supreme Court has made the right decision, supporting human rights and equality. It will not only support the economy, but also the emotional wellbeing of children raised by gay and lesbian parents--their parents will no longer be "equal but separate". I hope the citizens of this great state will turn down the attempt to write discrimination into their constitution. Gay and lesbians have been marrying in Massachusetts for more than 4 years now and the world has not come to an end!

Agree

Once again California is at the forefront of what will eventually be nationwide. It's about time reason won out over the misguided religious beliefs people are using to keep themselves from supporting equal civil marriage rights for all. Anyone brave enough to face the full truth on how the Bible and homosexuality actually mesh (as opposed to what individual preachers teach their flocks) should rent or add to their Netflix queue the documentary "For The Bible Tells Me So." Caution: it asks you to think for yourself.

Good, the economy needs help

I am happy for California. They have seen fit to get rid of discrimination and now they should be rewarded for doing the right thing. Good for you California, you deserve every penny.
