The Fallout From California's Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

Prop. 8 California
Although fundimentally I was raised in the traditional way of Man and Women. The sticking point I feel in the proposition was to make it a constitutional change. What anyone does with their life and love is not my concern unless it effects me directly. Why mess around with a system that seems to be functioning now where a simple policy change would handle the issue pretty well.

Yeah...truth vs lies...
The truth always comes to light eventually. If you are finding that your particular "Truth" is failing then maybe you should reconsider your sources for what the Truth really is.
This is not some evil, this is about letting people live their lives. They are hurting no one, everything they do is between two consenting adults with their own private lives. The evil is trying to tell them what to do because you think you know better, just because you have "Faith" in something. Faith is a choice, you chose to believe this truth, you have that right. You do not have the right to make that choice for others. That is what this boils down to, letting people have the choice to do as they please, so long as they are not taking anyone else's freedoms away.
That is what laws are for here, ensuring that individuals do not take away others freedoms. Murder is wrong, it removes the freedom of the victim to live. Stealing is wrong, you are taking something from someone else. Do you see the difference? The only thing that is being taken from you, is possibly the illusion that because you are straight, that you are somehow better than someone who is not. They deserve less than you. While you are at it why don't you make any one who is not of your race, religion, culture, height, weight, hair color (or whatever you wish to focus on to make yourself feel superior) not able to enjoy the same freedoms you do.
And for the "think of the children" crowd. A child is not going to be affected any more by two mommies or two daddies than a one mom, one dad marriage. The problems will arise from the rest of the community they live in making their lives harder because of who their parents are. There are plenty of messed up children from straight marriages as well, abusive parents, alcoholic parents, negligent parents. It wouldn't matter wether they were a gay or straight couple. Those things will still exist. By banning at sexual orientation level "For the Children" you are on a slippery slope, where anything can come into question for the right to breed/adopt and raise children. Judging from some of the reactions I've seen from, if we went down that path, I think many of the people who think the way you do, would find yourself barred from children as well. Think on it.
Truth versus lies
Its real sad to believe a lie, but it is sadder to be the one to inforce it. We are all people who live in a world with so much diversity and fear of hurting someone's feelings if we tell the truth. Lets campflauge it or sugar coat it. We are all guilty of allowing a little leven which as we see can leven the whole lump. As Christians, did we vote when we should of? Did we stand against imorality when we should of? Did we speak up or expect the next guy to? Well here we are at a moral decline and a great evil that has occured in our society. Sadder is there is so many people sleeping spiritually that it doesn't bother them. How can something holy be defiled and not bother you? The answer is moral decline acceptance, spiritual slumber and lack of acknowledgment of the truth. But its ok, God is the one who will be the final judge, as the word states, dont fear the one who can destroy the body only but rather the one who has the power to cast the body and soul into hell. Lazurus cried out please go warn my family for I have five brothers, that they would not enter into to this place of torment. He also asked please dip your finger to cool my tongue. Hell is real and many are there now. Scientist in Russia dug nine miles in the earth and they said they never believed in heven or hell but they do believe now God is letting this end time generation know without a doubt hell is a litaral place of torment. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST is LORD!
Experience and know before you judge...
Being a bi-sexual (previously closeted) 3o year old mother, I too had different views on gay marraige. I lived in a small town and was married to my high school sweetheart. I too remember making ingnorant remarks for years not realizing the magnatude of the hurtfull things I would say about homosexuals. Even though deep down I knew what I was, I was not ready to come out because I was always in fear of what society would think of me. I put my own happiness aside to please everyone. I admit that I did have doubts about two mommies or two daddies being married and raising a child. I am currently in a very strong relationship with a woman and we ARE currently raising two beautiful children giving them love and teaching them about respect and, NOT to hate or judge. Because HATE is wrong, not two human beings who trully love each other and want the same rights as everyone else....People need to know and experience, before you can judge others.
same -Sex Marriage
Well now the GLTB Communityhas finally been recognized and heard. Hope that many who married or will get married to someone of the same sex will REPENT of this horror before they die.... because Revelation 21:8 is only one scripture. Same Sex with mankind or womankind is an ABOMINATION before a Holy God.
Randall - why I want "marriage"
Actually I don't want to get "married" for the very reasons you talk about.
"Marriage" even on a State level still denies same sex couples some key Federal benefits i.e. social security for surviving partners. Give me the same Federal rights/benefits under Civil Union and you can keep "marriage". Either that, or follow the French system and allow Social Security benefits to be assigned to any person financially interdependent on you (i.e. a mother can assign to her depend adult child with disabilities). Or take away from married couples survivor Social Security....I don't know why the government hasn't come up with that one seeing as they say the system will be broke soon anyway....
In my opinion, all that should be recognized by the State or Feds are Civil Unions. Churches can then perform "marriages" between whomever they choose based on thier beliefs and tenets.
Mike Fl. you said it well - divorce has made a mockery of the "moral" argument. No way would a prop. banning same sex marriage and divorce make it through the voters!
I'm tired of "marriage" in general
Gay people want to get married? Why would anyone want to get married, when you look at what "married" really means anymore. It means two people get together, fall head-over-heels for each other, and decide that they want to be together forever. A month after meeting, they buy some rings. A year or two later, they are calling attorneys , and debating who gets time to spend with the kids. Nobody should get married. It is a joke. People, gay or straight, should just find someone to be happy with and not bother obtaining government intervention. The U.S. government can't win wars, can't balance a budget, can't win a "war on..." anything. Why the hell do people feel the need to have an entity that needs to get it's own house in order validate their relationship?
The fact is...
While it's amusing to see the kooks thump their chests about "morals", it's also irrelevant when it comes to civil rights. Growing up in the south, I saw all too many church signs condemning integration as against the "Word of God" and how it was the "slippery" slope to the ruination of the country and degenerate morally. The idea of mixed race marriage was beyond repulsive and repugnant to the "Word of God". Funny how we haven't learned much from that…….
The history of marriage stands as testament to fact that marriage has been predominately a civil function from the earliest times in most civilizations. The church didn't make marriage a sacrament until about 1100 AD. As a matter of fact, marriage's main purpose was to protect property rights and wealth. Among the royal families it was to secure relations with other nations. Some how, those who want to construct a fantasy of "marriage" like to ignore the actual history of marraige. They tend to ignore the fact that divorce is by far the most destructive force against marriage today, producing a 50% rate in this country alone. Odd how none of the "moral" people are filing legal briefs opposing divorce. Why not a constitutional amendment prohibiting divorce? I guess that one hits too close to home for most of them. Marriage is sacred…. up until it's no longer convenient.
One has to also smile in amusement at the "slippery" slope arguments of those who (not unlike their 1960's counterparts) "know" that same sex marriage will lead to all kinds of horrible changes to marriage. Polygamy (practiced by a large portion of the world today) will surely become legal in this country. The fact that polygamy has and continues to be practiced in this country for hundreds of years with or without consent of law seems to elude them. Of course, once polygamy is sanctioned by the state then laws concerning consenting age etc can be regulated, unlike the current situation. Naturally, once same sex marriage is allowed, it only stands to reason that many, many people will take the opportunity to marry the sibling of their choice. Anyone who has siblings, please give that one a long think. Also, it has been brought up that marriage to minors will also ensue. No one seems to have noticed that Kansas used to allow a 12 year old girl to marry a 40 year old man with parental consent. I understand the age in Kansas is now 14. Those laws, of course, have been around for many years and no one seemed too concerned until now. Funny that, BUT remember, those applied to opposite sex marriages so it really wasn't considered a big problem.
In the end, the REAL reason for opposition to same sex marriage is the ongoing opposition to any change of any kind. The easiest way to make people bend to your will is to make them afraid of something and here we have many good examples. If these kooks can instill a "fear" of the unknown in less educated people then they can be satisfied that they have been able to control "something" in their lives which apparently seem so out of control that they must involve themselves in other's personal lives. Not unlike those who opposed integration, women's suffrage and supported prohibition, these people are to be pitied but ignored if our country is to remain a beacon of freedom to the world.

>This country was founded on moral principals. As a matter of fact, it was founded on very Christian based moral principals.<
Then why don't the documents that define our system of government mention Chirst, the bible or anything else of a religious nature other than closing with "In the year of our Lord?" Read the Constitution. Read the Bill of Rights. There's nothing in there to suggest our nation is based any religion.
>The whole American dream was based on developing a culture of hard working people of integrity, God fearing, honest, and moral. <
Are you saying that gay people lack integrity? Don't fear God? Are dishonest? Are amoral? If so, I say you don't really know any gay people.
>If you will read some early United States History <
I have, extensively. You haven't. There is nothing in our founding documents that suggest or endorse denying basic rights to anyone.
>Yes, the same Constitution that is being ignored and re-defined in the interpretation to fit the lifestyles of todays ignorant godless, immoral society.<
The only people I see ignoring the Constitution are right-wing religious whackos who want to shred the first amendment and establish a theocracy in this country.
Out Constitution and Bill of Rights are indifferent to religion, other than stating plainly that 'Congress Shall Make NO LAW Respecting An Establishment Of Religion, Or The Free Exercise Thereof!"
>The ACLU is doing all it can to rub out all traces of God's existence in the U.S.
A lie.
>Hasn't anyone noticed how violent and unsafe our neighborhoods have become?
Are you blaming gays for this?
> Hasn't anyone noticed the incredible increase in "topless" and "nude" clubs over the last, say 20 years, in all of our small and large cities?
Uh, gee, wouldn't that be a moral failure of heterosexuals?
>Our kids think it's OK to have sex at 10 to 12 years old.
Mine don't.
>The schools almost promote active sexual behavior and supply the condoms, thinking: "this is the way to teach our children responsible sexual behavior."
Sorry but abstinence lessons just don't work.
>Our schools are teaching our children that being gay is OK.
Actually, I'm teaching my kids that gay people deserve the same respect that anyone else does, which is contrary to what they learn on the playground.
>Don't listen to the morals your parents are teaching you.
If we're talking about the morals you exhibit here, , you're right, I don't want my kids to learn to hate.
> We were given, by God, our free agency.
And you would deny Gods gift to those you don't like.
>Yes, The California Supreme Court has joined the very rank and file of the immoral. Redefining that original American Dream:
You really are reaching now.
Look around California....,Gambling, failing economy, major crime problems, huge welfare state, no regard for our children's education (38%never graduate) ,
Again, are blaming all of this on gay people?
> prisons have never been as crowded,
You can thank Ronald Reagan for that one.
>State parks are closing,
State parks closing? Well that's just the final straw. KILL ALL GAYS!!!
>prostitution is on the rise, etc, etc.
Again, a hetero failing.
>they will have to answer to a higher authority for all the moral damage they cause for this decision.
So why are you so worried? It's between them and God. It's none of your business.
