Gay Marriage - why?

Fighting over such legal issues just enriches the lawyers! After all, what's the point in getting married today anyhow?

If it's just to ensure that your "partner" is legally entitled to equal protection under the law, then that demeans the true purpose of marriage, which is to make a life-long committment to one another. In today's society, no one needs the courts approval to make a life-long committment to anyone, whether it be to a man, woman, or a child born out of wedlock -- however, you'll surely seek the courts approval for Divorce.

Why now? After thousands of years of marriage between a man and woman has been tradition and legal,(and the bible is against same sex relations,)why all of a sudden is same sex marriage such an issue? Same sex relationships have always been there as we know from history. Grow up, get responsible and deal with what has always been in an intelligent way without marriage.

God still loves you so we get to hate homosexuals because we have no faith in God's design and worry "If everybody dated or married the same sex, there wouldn't be any children produced from that." Who would replace our bigotry?

Sounds like the Christians don't have any faith in God's design but have to have break the constitution and make our government socialist like and impose their religious beliefs on those not like them. Hey it works for the Arabs.

Vote No On Florida's Amendment 2

I'm tired of religious zealots spewing their anti-gay rhetoric and using scare tactics to advance their own personel agenda. As though they're speaking for God, himself.

To them I say, we're all God's children, he created us in his image and he loves all his children equally. The God I love and worship, would be disgusted with by the hate mongering, intolerance, and demonizing of any of his children, from both sides of this issue. How dare anyone, in God's name, deny any of his children, their God given right to love, be loved and live the lives he gave them filled with love and happiness. When two people, whether gay or heterosexual, love each other with all their hearts, want to share their lives together and have their love solemnized by getting married, this something to rejoice in, embraced and cherish. Shouldn't all God's children deserve the same equal rights to do this? To love and marry they person they love, shouldn't be solely reserved for only God's heterosexual children. Marriage is a state legally sanctioned civil union of two people. Not underage children, multiple partners or animals, simply just two consenting adults who wish to share their love and lives together, period.

Florida has three laws and the Defense of Marriage Act, enacted in 1997 declaring gay marriage illegal. So, whether Amendment 2 passes or fails, gay marriage will remain illegal in the state.

Amendment 2 will hurt all Floridians, not just gay citizens. All you have to do is look at the amendments carefully crafted and ambivalent language, "Inasmuch as Marriage is a the Legal Union of Only One Man and One Woman, as Husband and Wife, "no Other Legal Union" that is Treated as Marriage or the "Substantial Equivalent Thereof", Shall be Valid or Recognized. Then ask yourselves, what exactly does "no Other Legal Union" and/or the "Substantial Equivalent Thereof" mean? You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to see it's wording opens the door to a wide range of interpretation by the courts.

Sadly Michigan citizens found out they were lied to, just as we're being by the YesOn2 religious fanatics. It passed a similar amendment, but, not vaguely worded as Florida. A Christian legal group sued, claiming domestic partners benefits were "the Substantial Equivalent Thereof", the court agreed and repealed them. Unmarried heterosexual and gay couples registered as domestic partners had their benefits stripped away.

Do we dare take responsibility for our senior citizens, police, firefighters, city employees and many others, will suffer the same devastating financial loss as Michigan's citizens.

Amendment 2 will enshrine a particular religious groups beliefs into our states constitution. Which is intended to guarantee rights, not used to deny or take rights away. The principle of Separation of Church and State shouldn't allow for one particular religion to dictate laws and rights on all other citizens. Protect Floridians benefits and rights VOTE No On 2.

I think that they should have the right to get married, no matter what gender you are.

God loves the man/ woman, not the sin(homosexuality). We know that homosexuality is a sin. Ok, we got that. It does clearly state in the Bible that homosexuals won't inherit the kingdom of God.We got that too. God did ordain marriage for one man and one woman because it was made for pro- creation. If everybody dated or married the same sex, there wouldn't be any children produced from that. God loves you reguardless but isn't in agreement with the homosexual sin! At all

Lets say you don't believe in God or don't care what He thinks...You have to ask yourself.. Why are men created the way they are (genitals) and females created with a receiver? Everthyng in life has a purpose. Man (male and female) wasn't sculptured that way for no reason. We were designed that way for the creation of more human beings. When things aren't right, thats when people have problems with the way things are done(the people who are opposing the homosexual marriage). I don't think that its personal.. that people just don't want equality, but it has no positive or good or productive outcome if it was done that way. We weren't designed to like the same sex. It's unnatural to have attraction for the same sex. I'm a male... There is no way possible that I would like another male. Women are the most beautifulest :) thing that God ever put toegther in this life. I thank him for them everyday!! lol So, just saying, its not you personally, its the unnatural attraction and the non-production that comes from a result of homosexual nature.
