Antiabortion Ballot Initiative in Colorado

Posted May 9, 2008

The mother of all wedge issues will likely be in the ballot box this November in the battleground state of Colorado. The antiabortion group Colorado for Equal Rights announced today that it has secured "well over" the 76,047 signatures necessary to put a controversial "personhood initiative" on this presidential ballot.

The initiative would amend the state constitution to declares a fertilized egg a "person" who enjoys "inalienable rights, equality of justice, and due process of law," carrying a host of implications not only for abortions rights but for birth control and in-vitro fertilization clinics.

If passed, the amendment would pose a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, which many antiabortion groups have hungered for since President Bush appointed conservative justices Samuel Alito and John Roberts to the Supreme Court.

Antiabortion forces rallied around Colorado, in part, because of its low signature threshold to place an amendment on the ballot. But the state, though historically conservative, has not had a history of restricting abortion access, putting the success of this proposed amendment in doubt.

Indeed, a recent poll of Coloradans found that a full 50 percent of state Republicans supported abortion rights.

Against Abortions

I am totally against abortions. It is a Sin to abort Gods creations. You are strongly correct as it relates to the Ten Commandments, Thou shall not KILL. It is the prayers of the rightous to continue to seek the Lord in this matter. Kayla continue to keep your voice open.

Thanking you

Abortions are wrong!!

Abortions are wrong!! I believe very strongly against abortions!

I believe, no one in this world has the right to take the lifes of a precious little baby than the man himself..and that is GOD!

In the bible one of the 10 commandments is thall shall not kill..and when I think of an abortion...that's exactly what it is!!! Just the other day, I seen some very disturbing pictures of babies after an long term abortion procedure was done...these babies were fully developed!! Even there was one done at 4 months, and the baby was already developed...the difference is, is that that baby will never have he/shes first cry. When you stop a heartbeat, istn't that---what you would call killing? The sad part is, is that the only difference is that the baby can't tell you to stop, he/she can't tell you it hurts, he/she can't tell you that their scared!

When will it end? I wish there was more I could do or say to get more others involved; to stop abortions!!

Please, email me if there is anyway I can make a difference in millions of inocent babies lifes!

If theres a will, theres way; you just have to believe in yourself- to speak out!

Please I am begging you ...if theres anyway I can become involved, please feel free to contact me!!

Thanks, Kayla Flynt
