Does Wright Represent Black Church-Goers?

re: "Rev. Wright"

Booker T. Washington said it all a century ago:

There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs…There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

Epistemology

mary is right on. our influences are what shapes of view of the world. if "Rev." Wright is an example of an African American Theologian then I truly feel sorry for the children that you speak of because now they can't even turn to out Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for guidance due to the deadening of Gods word by this man and men like him.

black church in america

I've been wondering for many years, as I teach inner-city African-American students, where the African-American church has been. My students believe that getting good grades is "acting white". Their role models are rap stars whose music tells them that they are disenfranchised, and that they have no chance in America. Now I discover that the church is telling them the same thing. No wonder these kids have no incentive to succeed. They are being poisoned by their culture and their religion. All I can say is that it is sad. It makes me wonder what will happen to America.

REV WRONG

He's a freaking megalomaniac that doesn'r represent a damn thing! A loser looking for 15 seconds of fame.

A true HYPOCHRISTIAN!

Rev. Wright

Rev. Wright has certainly put a negative on Barack Obama's campaign. He -Obama has acted like a perfect gentleman all through this horrible happening. I hope the media leave it alone and lets it die because Obama is the man for the job!

He is honest and will make a fantastic President!! It is not often that a man of Obama's character comes along - he will restore the USA to a country that demands respect.

Hagee

I guess it is ok to say hate filled speeches against Catholics, but blacks cannot express disgust at they have been treated in American history!.

is rev wright on the repblicvan party payroll or is mrs clinton paying him.

Bush's influence

"Bush has promoted a small group of black clergy to represent all of black Christianity"

To say that President Bush has anything to do with appointing Black Church representation in this country are the words of a very bias individual and are just pathetic as representing black opinion
