Violence is down, yes, but a fragile Iraqi government faces major tests in the coming months

Should we have gone in the first place?
I don't think we should have gone to Iraq in the first place. I know that we are tryin to help the Iraqi's but it is back-firing. I don't understand why we care so much to help them out when they do nothing for us but crash our twin towers. I think it is time to pull out, since Saddam is dead.

I think that our army should not have gone into Iraq in the first place. We caused our country lots of grief that was not needed. I hope that we get out of Iraq as soon as possible. It seems that things are going better over there and maybe the U.S. should try to let the new Iraqi government try to run the country on their own without the U.S. always influencing them.
Is Iraq Ready for U.S to leave?
The U.S being a world power puts it in a place where it is our duty to reach out and help countries that need or want our help. By the Iraqi people's reaction (most of them want help) we can tell that we should have gone to Iraq. As far as returning home, I think we should do so gradually, allowing Iraq to have a chance to stand up on its own to feet.
this whole thing is pointless.
what did they ever think going to iraq would accomplish? the middle east was screwed up before we got there and sending american soldiers didn't change anything. iraq will never be "ready" for the U. S. to leave so we should leave while we still can.
Is iraq ready for the US army to leave?
As a true american i feel it was right for us to go into iraq. i dont know if most of us remeber but we were attacked and we're not the country to take a punch and not do anything about it. many people say it was wrong for us to go into iraq in the firts place same as those who said we should negotiate with the germans in world war two, talk with north korea, people with the mind set of being pussys (like obama)
Is Iraq Ready for the U.S. Military to Start Leaving?
The U.S. has been seen as the villain and the blame for all of the blood shed in Iraq. Without the U.S. to blame what excuses will Iraq and other Arab countries use for their backwardness? All of their citizens and especially women suffer from lack of education, medical care and human rights while the few oil rich sheiks says it's God's will. What is wrong with this picture?
Is Iraq Ready for U. S. Army to leave?
We should have never have gone in to start with, and I don't care if they are ready for us to leave or not. They have had the time to get ready and did not. The have fought each other over religion and ethnicity for hundreds of years, and this will continue no matter when we leave. Enough America lives and treasure have been lost. Meddling politicians, searching for power in Iraq and here, lost the war, not our men and women in uniform. Out, as quick as logistics allow. Should be less than 2 years. They will still sell us oil; it's the only commodity they have. If President Elect Obama does not follow through will this early campaign promise, then he is starting off on the wrong foot.

The problem is that the U.S. can only do so much. Right now that means almost everything in Iraq. The government can deploy troops and pay salaries. After that, they turn to the U.S. to do pretty much everything else. The government doesn't invest in infrastructure, hasn't improved the living standards of its people, the justice system doesn't work, the government still persecutes Sunnis, there's mass corruption to name just a few problems. Also if the U.S. is looking for the Iraqi elections to change things up they're probably going to be disappointed. Outside of the Anbar Awakening taking over Anbar, the ruling parties will stay in power, they're just going to switch positions. For example, the Supreme Council rules most of the south. Maliki's Dawa will probably take over many of those provinces. That won't mean a real improvement in government. For more see: http://musingsoniraq.blogspot.com/
