Nixon's Rank!

I've seen some good and thoughtful comments here in this listing, but the genersl public commentary, thru the years has lacked any depth of reflection! One would think that Watergate was the only thing that happened during his tenure.

The Cold War had been the one dominant feature of the everyday news since closely after the end of WW II. There had been a few words during that time on the thhreats and hazards of nuclear war and the necessity for eliminating the A-Bomb from existnece, but it seemed that the Missile Race ensued instead, while "Mutually Ensured Destruction" became our hallowed safeguard. BUT, while 6, 8, or 10 --or even 1 (ONE) on either side out have been more than enough to satisfy that slogan (as we set about diligently [at the UN, together with the Soviet Union, Britain, France and all others] to SOLVE this problem, we jumped into that 'Race' with full vigor. Stupidity! As demonstrated by how quickly Nixon's initiative was embraced by China, and then the Soviets as well -- and by everybody else!

Then came Watergate, the next significant event of Nixon,s term! It was as if nothing else had ever happened! Yet by comparison with the breakthru to China and the Soviets, it (Watergate) was trivial! Truly TRIVIAL, compared with the ongoing status of war as the LAST WORD on the resolution of conflicts among peoples.

And now we have a new COLD WAR, this time in terms of suicidal terrorism by religious fanatics who are striving to get nuclear weapons. Think how much greater the hazard of that Red Button getting pushed by a suicidal fanatic who thinks in terms of glories he might get for wiping out 'infidels'. The termination of our expansion of our fleet of F22s might be the next real step toward the termination of the threat of nuclear war (AND of ALL WARS)

Let the next significant step be tha adoption of Esperanto as the language of the UN, so that the people at the UN can talk to each other DIRECTLY and CLEARLY, and stop wasting so much time (and money) on translation services, and reduce the hazards of serious misunderstandings. This would be a relatively easy step to make, if we simply admit Esperanto as a choice among languages in the foreign language programs. This part should be VERY easy, because Esperanto would ENHANCE our education program on a broad scope, while REDUCING cost. (I could expand extensively on this, but I've written too muc already.)

aand ongoing WARS

for country not the people

The evil genius set the US on a path to becoming a superpower by establishing the cash for oil deal with Saudi Arabia and by initiating trade with China.

Tricky Dick's war on youth ...

I guess it'l be forgotten by many ,but i can not forgive, Nixons war on youth. although

also called the war on drugs it was much more and in many instances resulted in killings(Kent State),beatings, false arrests, planted drugs, and basic mayhem against a entire generation.

this alone earns treacherous dick the distinction of the worst president of my life time.and the hatred of many of those who lived thru his years of stupidity.

nixon

this country is a dulatont when it comes to war nixon fueled the myth for corprote gain. less service men were lost since the cuvul war than during the cuvil war yet slavery remained in the form of company town debt slavery, credit cards, the draft, coorprete bailouts taxing the poor , anti union activity, ectra. On the independence day fires are started that are a mere tast of what europe endured mich less the middle east. Lets think about rhe effect that non lingale hevily armed foriegn soldiers would have on our streets.

Obama or Nixon

I would take RMN over Obama anyday. He was one of the best foreign policy presidents in our history. He was not aa wealthy man but did accomplish great things with USSR, China, ending VN, building up the EPA and creation of OSHA. What President has done so much?

Nixon - US Hamlet

It is said that there is a thin line between brillance and idiotacy. Brillant and self-destructive, he destroyed himself. That steely look with those transfixed eyes were the windows of a man who thought he could do no wrong - sad. His presidency represented the nadir of US presidents.

Nixon

Nixon, like most polititians, would tell you anything to get elected and the majority of Americans believed his lies.It took him & Kissinger 7 years to get us out of Vietnam & killed 33,000 of our kids, more than under Johnson. 58,000 kids are in their graves because of those two idiots. This country was built on graves not wisdom.

FUNNY!

NIXON HAD PROBLEMS OBVIOUSLY, BUT IN THE END HE OWNED UP. I WOULD SAY THE MAN WAS A LIAR AND A MANIPULATOR AS CAN BE SEEN FROM HIS MANY DEBATES AND DENIALS THAT HE DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF SHIELDING HIMSELF FROM THIS CONTROVERSY FOR A WHILE. BUT THATS WHAT HE DOES, THATS WHAT PRESIDENTS ARE,THEIR ACTORS, THEIR SPEAKERS, HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS SAYING AND THAT WAS THAT. HE FESSED UP HE KNEW WHEN IT WAS OVER AND HE NOT SO GRACIOUSLY GAVE UP.

HAHA!

Even worst?
