We need to be able to drill

I received a recent letter from my congressman. It said we need to be independent of oil sheiks, and stop giving money to our enemies. The only way to be independent is to put all options on the table. This includes drilling for oil, natural gas, the bad word nuclear, clean coal and other alternative sources.

I am sick and tired of the environmentalist dictating a return to the stone age. The only way they will be happy is that way. Well the majority of Americans do not want a return to the stone age. They believe all options should be explored for our benefit. Since when do the few decide for the many?

We often hear how we are going to lose one species or another. If an organism isn't able to adapt then it should become extinct, and let another organism develop to fill the void. Are our environmentalists playing God? Possibly? According to Darwin things must adapt to their environment in order to survive. Adaptations give species the most viability.

Sometimes environments change quickly and species, which do not adapt, become extinct. Over 90% of the species that have been on this planet have become extinct. The heartiest survive, because they can rapidly adapt. Stagnation prevents change, and actually hinders natural selection.

Right now we have a proposal in front of congress. It is our energy bill, which will increase the cost of energy for every U S citizen. Al Gore got to testify in front of the House of Representatives. A scientist who would have destroyed his argument with actual science was denied testimony. Our elected officials did not want to see poor Al be embarrassed by actual science.

If you want actual facts on AWG they are not all in right now. If you want cheap energy in order to get our economy growing, then all options need to be used. While we do need to lower our dependence on fossil fuels, it should not be done by people who need to get re-elected. It should be done by open debate with actual science.

waht is it about?

I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps serving my country, and I know I have earned the right to speak my mind. And no my kids are not in the military, but I care about everyone of our service people and do not want to see them in harms way.

There may be better ways in theory, but as it stands today there are no alternative energy options that make sense or that are financially feasible. So my point is that we should maximize our resources while trying to find an alternative replacement to oil, and stop sending billions to countries that hate us and use some of our money to kill Americans.

@ larry

Just so you know, I have two children in the Navy and one in the National Guard. How bout you? Got any kids in the service? I come from a long line of service people. That is exactly why I have the right to speak my mind. I would much rather have my children visiting a wildlife reserve than off fighting for some crummy oil. There are better ways and we need to start looking for them and utilizing them NOW. Before it's too late.

Talk about being lied to

You can continue to live in a dream world searching for alternative fuels that don't live up to the hype.

I would suggest you go back a little further and read all the comments about the pipeline and what it was going to do the environment. All were wrong.

And for your information I do have kids and I would rather them not have a frozen reserve in Alaska to go visit, than to have them go to some country fighting over oil.

By the way when are you planning your vacation to ANWR?

@Wake Up America!

"Sure there will be accidents and we'll clean it up" - Did you even read the article? It has been 20 YEARS since the Exxon Valdez accident and there is ongoing damage to the environment! They still haven't "cleaned it up"!

And, the only real choice we have is to begin searching for alternative fuels or let the world go to hell and tell our children, "Oh, well, we were too greedy to save anything for you, including a planet to live on"!!!! Is that how you feel? Do you have children? Or do you not care?

They have lied to you about ANWR. I HAVE looked it up. It would be destructive to the environment and the many species of animals the inhabit it. You may not care, but I do. And since it is a "NATIONAL" wildlife refuge, I have a say in whether or not someone can go in there and just destroy it. It belongs to all of us Americans. Oh, that's right, according to Sarah Palin, I am not a "real" american because I don't believe as she does....

Wake Up America!

We have a choice; we can continue to send billions of dollars to countries that hate us and would like nothing more than to see us destroyed or we can use the abundant resources our country provides us. Sure there will be accidents and we'll clean it up, but to continue down the same path will only lead to more Americans getting killed.

Do you really believe the oil companies want 100 gallons of oil to go to waste? No of course they don't, that's what they sell. They take preventative step to make sure they have as much oil for sell as possible.

The mind set of the "Evil Oil Company" has got to stop. Let's drill where ever and when ever we can. Have you ever stop to think about the amount of money this country would have if we sold our oil and natural gas to the world?

Want to see how you have been misled, check out this map of ANWR. You will see how much of the reserve will be touched. BTW who is going to go there anyway.
