Obama's Stimulus Keeps the Solar Power Dream Alive for Start-ups

solar grants in PA vs AZ
Since there is 3 times the solar energy in AZ than PA it seems more stimulus money should be going to sunny states. I am in PA now and cannot believe all the huge solar panels that are going up here. I read that the payback is shorter in PA than AZ and find that hard to believe unless PA is much more subsidized. We winter in AZ and are amazed at the lack of solar there. How can I find out how many million is given to PA solar versus AZ solar?
Tax credit needed to make it work faster
Before LBJ was fooled into starting the Nam war, the US gave a tax credit to people like myself who bought shares in alternate energy companies. I invested in three solar panel companies. Then came the war and the subsidy ended. Investors sold out and the companies failed. I lost $6000 on the investments, but I saw it as an ethical investment. Many comments here are good, like mandating solar on all new and all public structures. Holland has a lot of enormous windmills offshore and I think we will have some here. The future looks good. There is a wonderful side effect. If people are working at jobs to create clean power, there won't be so many seeking work in war-connected "defense plants."

They should start with building intergrated solar first.
Build it where the power is needed. Should be intergrated into the roof tops of all buildings. The infrastructure is there already. Just add solar panels, solar intergrated shingles/tiles, etc.. No long, costly, and dangerous cable runs.
My 105.6 Acres of raw land.
To whom can I lease my 105.6 acres of raw land in Troy, North Carolina (27371)for the purpose of developing solar power? HS
Solar is Clean
I hope the naysayers, snarky individuals, and unsatisfiable environmentalists can come to the realization that solar is free and clean energy. The costs are construction front end, and the rest is clean and nil impact. When the sites are simply marginal lands, there should be a realization that use of a small portion of the space we have is simply put to better use for all the world. There is always something to criticize, but keep this in perspective. Energy is not created, just transformed, and in the case of solar steam, it is truly proven and an effective tool for reducing co, co2, and all the other toxic emissions put into the air we all breathe with coal and other fossil energy sources. This is the best bet going. SIMPLY compare it to all the other alternatives. Time to get with it.
Bright Source will Kill Wilderness
There is nothing "green" about Bright Source except the money they are going to extort out of ratepayers for the next 25 years. these projects completely destroy thousands of acres of wilderness, suck tens of millions of gallons of scarce desert groundwater every year, and burn gas much of the time. Ivanpah is important threatened desert tortoise habitat - moving the tortoises has proved fatal every time it's been tried.
Meanwhile, if, for roughly $1.5 billion, they can build infrastructure (power plants plus transmission) to serve 140,000 homes, that's about $11K/home, roughly the price of a rooftop solar system of the same size (3kW), after CSI and other incentives. So, would you rather pay $11K each (because you know that ratepayers have to shell out 100% of the price of the infrastructure, while getting to own none of it), plus pay huge increases in your power bills to feed these desert-killers, or would you rather pay YOURSELF by getting your power for free for the next $25 years at roughly the same price? while improving your property value and creating more jobs?
Big Solar is a SCAM. it is lousy for the environment and lousy for ratepayers. run the numbers, and you can only come to ONE conclusion - point of use incentives are a FAR better way to spend our money. Fight for feed in tariffs, and against wilderness-killing boondoggles like Big Solar and Big Wind! save the planet while saving money!
Solar and Wind Power
Its too bad that only the blades for Wind power, are the only things that America makes. The rest of the structures are made in China and other Asian countries, and the Netherlands. There goes our tax dollars again...to foreign countries, AGAIN! America needs their own manufacturing plants for wind power plant productions, thus producing more jobs.
Solar panels, there are some factories around the U.S. but not many. We still need more and need more people to sell and install these panels for our homes and business, starting with the White House and our Capitol in Washington! Since we have the demand, we need the product, resources for installation, and a reduction in the cost of panels and installation...on the same lines as vinyl siding and window companies, thus producing more jobs. A nice tax deduction would also be nice for all home owners, business owners, manufacturing and production plants, and owners of rental properties:) This way, all Americans could benefit...instead of just a few, who have the money:)

Alternative Energy, Ready For Blast-Off!!!
We are on the verge of an economic boom as well as a recovery I believe. Alternative energy industries are beginning to become profitable and gaining wide-spread interest. Toshiba is introducing a Direct Methanol Fuel Cell in Japan next month to recharge cell phones, MP3 players, laptops, etc... which will boost sales of all types of gadgets. Hydrogen fuel cell automobiles are leasing in California now numbering in the thousands with hydrogen fueling stations under-construction nation-wide. The President's stimulus begins April 1 boosting net pay for everyone and energy credits abound in new tax code changes. By April 15, everyone should be able to plan upon our new alternative fuel futures anticipating new opportunities, employment, tax breaks, innovations and products!!!
