water quality affected by runoff

I have lived in Mendocino County in CA since 1933. In those days lived off of the land,Deer and fish. The fish were able to migrate and spawn and we took what we needed. The looging in the 50's and 60's clogged the streams and greatly harmed the spawning grounds. Forest practices have elimeinated the siltation, but as I have pointed out to numerous agencies (to no avail) the streams need to be put back in their natural state, which is an enormous and expensive task. So lets get some funding coming and get the agencies alligned.

aLSO, The mouths of the fish bearing streams need jettys, so the rivers are open year round.

How dare he insist we drink clean water!

A Refreshing Article

It is good to read an article not inclined to tearing down the parties. While the left illuminati party is in administration at this time, I am pleased to see that they are considering the vitals parts of our lives...water. I am thankful that they will look into the clean water and drought situations that is still a problem in the U.S.

Clean Water is SO Important!

It is so refreshing and exciting to read good news for clean water! I am really stoked about our new administration and just want to thank everyone for getting out to vote and pulling together for change, for HOPE, and now, for clean water as a National and Global Priority.

For me, water needs to be protected at every point in the hydrocycle: Mist, clouds, and rain, headwaters, moist soil (Protecting trees and especially forests is critical for water retention on and over the land), small creeks and seasonal flows need to be protected as well as the constant flow tributaries that lead to our navigational waters. This leads to the Oceans, which can no longer be considered dumping grounds for medical waste, sewage, and plastics. But one part of the hydrocycle otern overlooked in what is contained in the biosphere.

We need to protect the water in our lawns and crops from pharmaceuticals, chemical pesticides, herbicides and petro-fertilizers, and we need to protect our water from our own excrement. Considering alternatives to the current system of toiletry can not be pushed aside. Composting toilets should at least be legalized on a private scale and innovation permits in this area accelerated and investigated.

On a individual and municipal scale, grey water systems considered in infrastructure updates. In Australia, they have to drink treated sewage water due to heavy droughts. yuck. Let's get ahead of this and leave more water clean without exposure to sewage in the first place! But maily to cut run-off with permaculture and xeroscape arts and sciences.

I certainly don't have all the answers and I am making it a goal to be more descriptive and less prescriptive, but here I am rattling off. What I really want to say is we are destroying our water, and all the science for conservation and proper water use is available. We are an intelligent form and we can solve our water issues before they come to crisis levels in America, but it means thinking even about what we eat and drink. And whose products we use-- I mean do you really want to purchase products from companies that steal water from poor farmers in other countries creating deserts, then leaving the land with depleted water tables and no compensation?

The greatest thing is that we all have tremendous impact with our consumption decisions. Like with anything, awareness and conscious living is the beginning for any positive change. I love this country! I love my life again!
