Environmental Groups' Wish List for Obama: Curb Offshore Oil Drilling

Hydrogen Is the Answer!!!

The opponents to hydrogen have whined for years about the lack of availability and infrastructure yet neglect to mention that before the late 1800's gasoline too had no infrastructure so should we all go back to riding horses??? The fact is the DOE must upgrade the existing natural gas pipelines to acommodate hydrogen andnew methods to produce hydrogen must be empoyed. America already has a small hydrogen pipeline to supply industry but must be expanded for supplying for transportation currently scheduled for 2010!!!

Political Ramafications

If Obama restircts offshore drilling and gas prices shoot back up the Republicans will eat him alive on this issue. Does anyone remember McCain's poll numbers shooting up to the sound of "Drill baby drill".

Hydrogen

Quoting:

"Hydrogen has been long touted by the best and brightest business"

Comment:

I am afraid you have not examined that idea very closely. Hydrogen does not exist in free form in any quantity. It has to be reformed from natural gas (generating CO2) at a significant cost of energy or broken out of water at a net loss in energy.

Natural gas is typically found with oil and even the "dry" gas has to be drilled and sometimes "fraced" out of solid rock. The electricity to break hydrogen out of water is about half made by coal plants and takes several times the energy the hyrogen can return.

People to Obama, get our energy here.

Oil will go up in price again, lets be more prepared. Electricity prices are going up too. We need energy from our country that pirates can't hijack or far left so called environmentalists for that matter. Building the same percentage of nuke plants as France, doing the Pickens plan and helping Detroit make plug in cars will help to. Drill here, now. Imagine not worrying about the nuts of the world controlling our energy supply or our eccomomy.

Typical claptrap

Energy independence means being independent. No need for anyone else's crude, Our country has enough of its own natural resources to stick it to these outlaw regimes. Our national policy for decades has been to protect the oil producing criminals in the east, when we could outproduce them without a problem. Leave the companies that drill for it, refine it and deliver it alone and allow them to do what they know. Punishing production using tax policy, enviromental garbage and saving the polar bear only destroys our independence. The Enviro crowd could care less about independence, they only care that Gov't controls every aspect of your life cradle to grave. The path we are on is disructive, narrow minded and completely without justification.

Hydrogen Is The Key!!!

Hydrogen has been long touted by the best and brightest business, environmental and political minds as the key to our energy requirements yet greed has dictated a hesitant approach while energy had not reached critical levels. The recent energy crisis has spurred hydrogen fuel cell development and plans for creating a hydrogen infrastruture yet as energy prices drop, I fear the impetus toward alternative fuels will evaporate till we again reach critical status at which time we will be as we are now, behind the technology with the energy sector stating it will take too long to catch-up ergo infeasible. We have allowed this situation to perpetuate since the oil embargos of the 1970s and we mustn't allow it to happen again. This time, we must focus upon our environment as a conduit for energy policy and hydrogen is key. By using DOEs plans to use our current natual gas infrastructure to transport hydrogen also, we can finally convert our economy to be technology based rather thsn oil based. We cannot drop the ball yet again!!!

oil drilling

Okay people haven't you been finacially beatup enough ? Offshore drilling is SAFE it survives cat five hurricanes. What cant survive a hurricane is the U. S. Economy. President Bush just telling congress we will drill started the plung in oil prices. We need to produce our own resources ! We spend Trillions on countries that do not even like us . We need to feed America first. The people need help and this is one idea of many that need to be expedited. Notice the price lately 55 dollars a barrell used to be 134 dollars now OPEC wants to slow production to raise the price. Is that free market practice ? NO Get a clue America taking care of America First thats it.

We have more parks and open lands in North America than any other country in the world. Drilling does not harm the enviroment the enviromentalist do most the damage on there own. It takes the people of America to keep the parks and natural areas alive and it all costs money to do it. If we can save alittle for America than Drill!

Our need to utilize alternative energy and one great book to lead the way!

We seriously need to get on with the business of becoming energy independent. While we are doing the happy dance around the pumps with the lower prices OPEC is planning yet more production cuts and will not quit until they achieve their desired price per barrel. The record high prices this past year have done serious damage to our economy and society. WE must move forward with energy independence. We have the knowledge, we have the technology, what America lacks is a plan. Jeff Wilson has a new book out that is beyond awesome. The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence NOW. He walks you through every aspect of oil, what it is used for besides gas, our depletion of it. The worlds increased need ie 3rd world countries becoming more modernized and consuming more. He explains EVERY alternative energy source and what role they can play to replace oil. His research is backed up with hard data and even includes a time frame and proposed legislative agendas to wean America off oil. www.themanhattanprojectof2009.com
