2008 General Election Returns

Red vs Blue
What is wrong with this picture. Nevada only had three counties go for Obama and yet he won the state. Same with other states that had a majority of the counties go for McCain and Obama wins the state. Florida 16 counties Obamanation, 51 counties McCain.
President-Elect
To say anything derogatory towards either campaign at this juncture serves no purpose except to demonstrate a lack of understanding about why we have the greatest governmental system the world has ever known. Both camps did a fantastic job of offering the American electorate a clear choice. Now lets all look forward to supporting the new President-elect in every way that we possibly can. We are the the most successful nation on earth because we put country first and politics second. God bless America and her future!!
End the Ignorance
Ignorant people will say Barack Obama was only elected because of the Black vote. 95 % of the Black Vote is still less than 12% of the Voters overall!!
Barack Obama was elected by 45% of white males, 58% white females, 67% of Hispanics, 65% of young people, among other groups. He was elected by millions of Americans of all backgrounds. 52% of the popular vote is a clear choice. Live with it.
Look at his rallies, it was all of us, not just a few of us! Republicans had their chance after years of saying their policies would be better, and they failed. Now it's time to do something new.
A Canadian perspective
I am so proud to be alive in this time. I am not American, I am Canadian and I just want to say that I am envious of the courage and forward thinking country you live in today. I am so very happy to know that my child will be brought up in a world where anyone, no matter race, sex, belief can be a significant and influential world leader. I am not an african american, I am as white as they come, but my heart is of many colours (I know corny as hell).
Let us keep our minds open, positive and look forward to a time of great change in the world. It will be a lot of work and struggle, but nothing worth it, was ever easy to obtain.
Great job American voters!
Barack Obama
I think Barack Obama will be and AWESOME president.I believe he will help this country in this time of need.He will do a great job as president. That is why we elected him.I think John McCain and Sarah Palin would have done a crapy job and just mess this country up even more!
TOM in NC
Tom from NC, i wish you and your boys still would leave the USA. in fact, i encourage it. u speak of "everyone working hard". those hard workers will share their fruits of labor with the unemployed.
Old America is filled with ignorance... welcome to the NEW
I think it is hilarious to read all of the "oh the sky is falling" comments on here. To the majority of you I say God forgive YOU for your ignorance. All of the ignorant bible thumpers I recommend the movie: "Religulous" http://www.lionsgate.com/religulous/
If the US can still be standing from all of the ignorant decision made throughout history. My god, if BOTH Bush-es, Nixon, and the whole Jim Crow era did not destroy America, neither will a little bit of diversity! It will be fine, and actually will probably be better b/c of PRESIDENT OBAMA. People are so negative toward minorities. EVERY race has bad apples, so get over it. African-americans helped to build the USA with very little credit, through slave labor, inventions, and military service. It's about time we are given equal opportunity "literally". And yet you still can not grasp the idea of giving us a chance to lead this great nation. Oh how ignorant are the thoughts of you whom JUDGE someone without facts, rather than speculation/hearsay. If we all judge someone based on your "ASSOCIATES"... then none of the presidents should have won. I'm sure they were socializing with BIGOTS/Sexist/Fraudulent criminals somewhere in their group of ASSOCIATES. We ALL have someone that we know that we are not necessarily happy with their actions/views... but does that mean that we are LIKE them? NO! HOW MANY TIMES DOES HE HAVE TO SAY HE IS NOT MUSLIM? And even if he was, this is a country that is supposed to be free to practice whatever religion you'd like...HYPOCRITES. I admire the youth today, for actually going against alot of the negative/ignorant views of their parents. Change is bound to come. Gang violence may go down, b/c Obama winning may actually show a deliquent youth that the US really is a place where you can be anything you put your mind to. Racial harmony can exist, and is coming. The youth are making great strides to not see race. It means nothing. To my fellow african-americans... PLEASE DO NOT GLOAT, but REJOICE that we are breaking the racism wall. We did not do it alone, it took all the ethnic groups UNITED to make this happen. Lets show love toward one another, not bragging or showing poor-sportsmanship. Red, Blue, black, white, brown, yellow... has nothing to do with ability to lead a nation. Stop being hypocrites... this nation is supposed to be free to be equal. Multiple races make up this fantastic country, everyone should have the opportunity to lead! GOD BLESS AMERICA and EVERYONE (even the ignorant)! TRUELY ONE LOVE!
Americans - good decision
I am not an American, I do not understand politics "completely". However, from whatever little I have seen in Obama and McCain ads and discussions on the radio channels, I felt that Obama is the right person. His policies some how makes sense to me. The republican methodologies are not working for common people (who are the majority) they only work for the rich - that's why your 90% of country's wealth is in the hands of 10% of the people. Outsourcing should not be at the cost of citizens. For any country - the citizens should come first. Spending tax payer's (and SS donor's) money on the Iraq war is the most stupid thing done in America. Obama is a practical person and McCain in fact looked a complete drama person to me. I am glad that Obama won,. If majority of white people had voted based on skin color and race and pride and made McCain the president of the united states, they would have done a "Shekhchilly work" by hitting the axe on their own feet. I wish all the best to Obama and America, become a great country in "actual" sense.
Racism.
Tom of NC
I was prepared to leave the country had McCain won. So were many of my friends. You keep that racist poison to yourself. There is no more room for it in our country. We will pull up our sleeves and help our elected president make this country what it was always supposed to be; a place where everyone who works hard can live freely and according to their wishes. Turbans are articles of clothing used by various religions around the world. Religion is a freedom in this country. Using the Turban to symbolize a few violent extremists is small minded, and borne of self-imposed ignorance. Read a book once in a while. Your words embarrass me as an American.
my gut feeling
I hope I'm wrong but I feel that Obama only won this race by being a person of color. He has absolutely no experience and his choices for friends tell me something about his character I hope I'm wrong but this election has been vary underhanded by Obama and his assoation with acorn should have awakened alot of voters. The early vote was also a factor people who voted early found out about his agenda too late. Everybody get your turbans out of storage you'll be needing them.
