Dummy liberal

Does it not concern you that even if Joe the Plumber is Adolph Freakin Hitler himself, Obama's response was still STRAIGHT FROM KARL MARX? YOU liberals are pushing your agenda on Americans in a daaaaangerous way. Keep it up and you'll get your wish. What you fail to recognize is that you are NOT a protected class.

I Try To Ignore

Hey, racist democrat with no brain voting for McCain! If Obama wins maybe ya'll should move to Mexico or Canada.

Joe the plumber

Regardlessof what all these Democrat replies say about Joe the plumber--the object lesson shouldn't be lost--when you increase taxes on the $250,000 & up bracket-- jobs are lost The Robin Hood theory is nice socialist thinking.

Once a Lawyer always a lawyer.

Does it not concern anyone that the guy everybody says is so "Presidential" is a slick talking lawyer who defends such organizations as ACORN. Lawyers are trained to lie. I would rather have a Navy Officer who spent years defending our country than a slick courtroom lawyer who has spent years defending criminals. This is not a popularity contest! This is about the security and safety of America. We need a President who doesn't just say all the right things but can follow through on his promises. If Obama gets elected we will have a Democratic control goverment. It will not be what Obama wants but what the Democrat Party wants. Everyone blames the financial crisis on Bush but last time I checked the senate was controlled by the Democrats. Only so much the President can do if the Senate holds the checkbook.

Joe the Plummer

Could this possibly be a McCain "plant"? He's a little bit too slick for me...or rather too "timely" for me. And as usual, McCain and Palin will veer in on this gent as they have on Ayers, Lewis, etc. to muck up our clear views on the issues. I am an independent. I am a middle class, working white "soccer" and "basketball" mom who believes in Obama. I have no feelings of relevence with Mrs. Palin. I don't wink, I don't trash, and more than that...I am a Christian who believes in a loving, non-judgmental attitude. Did she forget she was a Christian? And also, exposing a three month old infant to thousands of coughing and who knows what else people in an arena is bad enough...but we also know that her infant statistically could have challenges with the cardiac and pulmonary systems...So why, in "God's" name would she expose her infant so soon in his precious life to elements even a "normal" infant should not be exposed to? That last remark isn't about Obama. It's just a response from a mom listening and watching this women for weeks...God save us from those hockey puck moms if that's their idol!

Gross vs. Net Business Income

If the $250,000 represents business income, not Joe-the-Plumber's salary, as someone noted above, then Joe's salary, along with his employee's salaries, would be business expenses. As expenses, they would not be subject to business taxes. Only company profit would be taxed.

I own a small professional corporation with 3 employees and gross income of about $450,000/year. The professional corporate tax rate is 40% (higher than my personal tax bracket) but we seldom pay anything. We are very typical. Plumber Joe should not be concerned.

the debate & Joe the plumber

Post Debate: Turns out that Joe the Plumber (Joe is his middle name) is actually a registered Republican who had already decided to vote for McCain. He was not ever an uncommited voter. Joe owes back taxes. The taxable income for the company Joe wants to buy is becoming less & less clear -- it is not clear that it is actually going to make over $250K. He's beginning to look like a Republican shill. Joe has made at least one post-debate remark which is somewhat racist IMHO.

I think Obama, pre-debate, deliberately goaded McCain into bringing up Ayers and ACORN during the debate. This allowed Obama to "answer" the charges in McCain-Palin TV ads (and their rallies) on national TV to a large audience for free without running (and paying for) his own negative TV ads on these charges.

McCain was aggressive and "dominated" the debate by interrupting both the moderator and Obama rudely and not allowing them to get a word in edgewise. McCain ran on in his some of "rebuttals" so that Obama did not have time to reply to McCain misrepresentations of the truth (previously debunked statements that he repeated yet again) because the 9 minute period for a "question" was up.

McCain's best moment was the comment that he is not Bush. On the other hand, I don't think he has successfully demonstrated in either this debate or anywhere that he differs significantly from Bush policies.

McCain came off looking very angry, just like one of the people who attend his rallies. He definitely supported his base. Not sure he extended beyond his base.

At the end of the debate, McCain's physical actions upon getting up from his chair seemed to indicate to me that McCain believed he had delivered a KO or a slam-dunk performance in the debate. He seemed exultant.

joe the plumber was a setup by the mccain camp. he;s not even close to making $ 100K a year or is even registered to vote. He will benefit from obama's tax plan.

Joe Was a FoxNews Plant

Katie Couric interviewed Joe the plumber and he is a Republican who spouts all the Republican talking points like the off shore drilling mantra. He makes less than $250K and would not pay more under Obama's plan. For a key debate McCain used one of his own supporters to act as a prop. This is typical McCain theatrics and when you pull away the curtain- it is all smoke and mirrors. McCain is going down for good reason.
