YES THE REPUBLICANS ARE AT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE AT IT. JUST READ LEWIS POWELL'S MANIFESTO. WRITTEN FOR THE REPUBLICANS BACK IN THE '70'S THEY WILL NEVER GIVE UP TRYING TO TAKE OVER THIS COUNTRY'S GOVERNMENT. AGAIN READ THE MANIFESTO AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND. AND YES THEY WILL TRY TO STEAL THIS ELECTION.JUST LISTEN TO THE GARBAGE THEY SPEW AT EVERY CAMPAIGN STOP OR TV INTERVIEW. THEY KNOW THEY ARE LYING. BUT THEY DON'T CARE. BECAUSE MANY OF THE PEOPLE WILL TAKE WHAT THEY SAY AT FACE VALUE AND NOT DO ANY FACT CHECKING.SO THE DAMAGE IS DONE. THE LIE IS REPEATED AS IF IT WAS GOSPEL. AND IT WILL SPREAD LIKE A COMPUTER VIRUS.

Manipulative to vote

Makes me wonder if the republicans are at it again. I remember them warning blacks with warrant not to show up if they have a warrant. I believe that the majority of the young those in college would vote for Obama, so if they can keep them from voting it only helps them.

Hamiltonian

The problem is who decides where I live? If you leave it up to the local election boards then they could always disenfranchise you, but let's say that while I'm in college my parents move to another state. The board in my college town can turn me down because I'm just a student, while the board in my parents' new state can turn me down because I never actually lived there. In the end, like everything else in a democracy, it comes down to accountability and transparency. Right now we're not doing a very good job on either count.

This election is about getting the youth to get involved politically and we need to do whatever we can to make that easier for them. It is bad enough that they are having trouble getting their school loans. I feel that voting should be able to be done at the college. After all, the college brings a huge amount of money to the communities that they are in. I am tired of town people thinking they are superior to the college people. If the town wants the money that the college brings to them, then the college should be able to be a political force within the community.

Voter registeration and Voting

WE should only allow people to register in the state they live in.. It should be no big deal to vote from their home state..

It has been proven how easy it is to ignore the rules of our electtions

From news reports there is a HUGE DRIVE on now to get out to vote VIA, visiting bars and homeless shelters trying to get people out to vote having transportation provided An honest was to win an election I think not we are NOT a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY yet

How is it manipulative to allow out of state students to vote?

Out of State College Students' Votes

I don't think college students who are "out of state" (meaning they claim their residency to be a different state than the one their university is located in, obviously) should have the option of using their temporary college address to register to vote. And to make it fair, we'd have to apply that to all college students. Obviously, these affected students have already stated, on paper, that they are NOT residents of the state they are temporarily residing in for educational purposes. To register to vote, you generally HAVE to be a resident of that state (or city, etc, for local elections). By allowing college students to basically CHOOSE their residency for voting purposes only, we create a way for a small demographic of the voting population to try to MANIPULATE the outcome of elections. If the average college student were Republican, I'm sure there would be a much larger outcry against this. Of course no Democrats have issue with this, as it furthers their political ends. It shouldn't be about that though. It should be about not allowing any portion of the population, conservative or liberal, to arbitrarily be able to change their residency on paper only for voting purposes, specifically to manipulate the outcome of the election. So of course I am opposed to allowing college students to use their dorm/college address for voter registration purposes.

are election officials jerks?

I've lived in the DC area for nearly ten years, beginning when I came here for college, and have been voting in Virginia since 2003. Only a year or two ago, though, did I change my driver's license from the state of my childhood. What's really to stop someone from voting in one state, paying taxes in another, and having an ID from a third? I see no problem in this whatsoever.

it's the law

In my personal opinion, students should register at their home. Howevever, the law is the law and they should follow the law, which I understand gives them a choice. This invites voter fraud and possible jail time. That is why I believe a person should have one specific place to register. Absentee ballots are recognized everywhere.

Higher Education

Apparently, punctuation isn't taught in colleges in Florida.
