Sarah Palin and the Presidential Succession Issue

It's something worth considering since there have been nine "accidental presidents" in American history

John McCain has had 4 bouts of a particularly virulent form of cancer, melanoma. His last bout was in 2002. It was stage two, which means that there is a 66% chance of recurrance within 10 years. The treatments are so highly toxic that the patient is completely incapacitated.

This is a serious consideration in this election.

Succcession After Presidential Election and Before Inauguration

What happens if the President-elect is not able to be inaugurated; does the VP-elect become President? Does the VP-Elect then nominate a new VP to congress?

Presidential Qualifications

Steve of Kansas is dead on. Palin has more experience than Obama so why are you not asking this question of him instead.

PALIN DISHONORS HER CONSTITUTION

Palin, after vindictively instigating the firing of Trooper Wooten, has been seen talking to the Judeofascist Land Robber’s Lobby. Obviously, these notorious Crypto-Neo-Marxists parasites see her potential as a political prostitute.

Presidential Qualifications

In response to "ofcourseobama of CA" please give me ONE example of Senator Obama's leadership (either as a Illinois representative or US Senator) I'm so tired

of people dismissing Gov. Palin's experience as not valid because she's from a small

city in Alaska. At least she has had to make executive decisions and not just vote

"present".

And in regard to Sen. Biden's foreign policy experience, I maintain it

is rendered moot if your policies are always wrong. His Irag war strategy would have

guaranteed defeat for the US and greatly increased the odds of civil war. But no one

ever challenges him on that.

Experience

Where is the discussion of what experience a president should have outside of this election. On PBS recently two historians were asked this and replied with excellent personal qualities but did not have time to elaborate. I would like to read about the qualities and experience a president should have from media, historians and panels of regular citizens. Then outside of these current applicants we could see how they stack up. For example Abraham Lincoln was a great president but I always wonder would the war have been shorter if an experienced man had been in office?

Sarah Qualified to be a Sportscaster Maybe

I'm sorry, but I don't think being the mayor of a town the size of the high school I graduated from and a governor for 20 months of one of the tiniest states (one with no tax issues, etc.) counts for much in terms of executive experience. She even had to hire a city administrator to run Wasilla when she was mayor and she chose to get federal pork to build a sports complex instead of a waste water treatment plant, a sewer system for the town, and decent roads (you know, infrastructure that benefits the whole community for decades to come). Now, I am a hockey mom and I do appreciate that sports complex when I'm dragged to Wasilla against my will. And, I wouldn't mind having one here in Fairbanks but, frankly, those infrastructure needs should have taken precedence.

Obama has a ton of knowledge through his excellent education, 8 years as a state legislator (of a relatively large state with big issues), and now as a U.S. Senator. He has chosen as his successor, should he need one, a person with more foreign policy experience than almost anyone in the United States. Not some lipstick covered pit bull.

The Republicans are once again stooping to Rovian tactics to win by getting ignorant, single-issue Americans to vote for the 2 Republican dimwits. Its a shame - there are some awesome Republicans out there that could have done a damn good job for this country instead of continuing to drive us into the ground by continuing the ruinous Bush policies.

Re: Your Stats

If your going to call someone out on stats, you better get yours right. FDR was in his 4th term.

palin inexperience

McCain's hasty choice for V.P. was the worst ever. Most mayors in most large cities have many more constiutents than she does with only about 800,000 people in Alaska.

She is a right wing religious zealot who is not in touch with the majority of the population in the rest of the country.

She is pretty, that is for sure, but pretty is not what we need for a VP who is a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

McCain pandered to the Dobson Christian crowd in this pick. Tom Ridge, former governor of Pa. would have been a better choice, but this would not have placated the right wing.

Joe Biden is a far more experienced VP candidate with far more foreign policy experience. Palin just got a passport last year.

We will find out more about Palin and Troopergate and who knows what elec. She did not even have a FBI background check before McSame picked her.

Are you better off now than during the Clinton years? Most of the middle class is not for sure. If you want more of Bush's policies vote for McCain and his Barbie doll, Palin.

Gov. Palin

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air needed in Washington. Most women in America can identify with her. Most women in America believe in having babies and work for a living. She will help to lead America in the right direction!
